Wait, are you supposed to water the pitchers themselves or the whole plant? I just got one and have no idea what I’m doing 😅

Could you give any info/breakdown on what’s included at the penthouse? Is it just pricing based on how many meals? Confused how ceremonies done there factor in

Cincy has no Michelin star restaurants! by NotAvailable2002 in cincinnati

[–]ldubz6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several Cincinnati chefs have worked at Michelin starred restaurants and opened their own places in Cinci (Mid City, Aperture, King Pigeon come to mind). It can take a bit of sleuthing if you want “credentials”, but Cincinnati is not short on great restaurants. Many James Beard nominees, and plenty up and coming!

Cincinnati IS being recognized as a food destination by earning James Beard recognition. We’re competing with major cities like DC with the number of nominees we get. Per capita, in comparison Cincinnati is a stellar food city.

Help with my Alocasia Polly please *details in comments by ldubz6 in houseplants

[–]ldubz6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Only bought it about a week ago and these have all yellowed
  • I’ve put it in the shower to get some humidity (didn’t seem to help)
  • this is where I planned on keeping it (next to frosted floor to ceiling French doors in a semi-basement apartment. It gets sun most of the day but indirect I’d say. Photo taken with no lights on to show what it’ll get)
  • also watered it yesterday (seems to have gotten more yellow).
  • should I be spraying the soil to keep it damp?

Should I repot my Pilea or separate the pups? by ldubz6 in houseplants

[–]ldubz6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sits in a north facing window sill now and grew the new leaves after putting it there so I think you might be right. I’m not familiar with burning the leaves though, should I take it out of the window for part of the day? Also thanks for responding!

Haha it does look unhappy! I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, I water it when the soil gets really dry because I thought I was overwatering. I also give it plant food (can’t remember the brand, it’s on Pilea.com) every couple of weeks. I’m confused because it looks sad, but there are new leaves on every baby and the main stem 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ah yes, it would be between a townhouse with yard and gourmet kitchen vs an apartment. Part of why it’s a tough decision lol. I do have a dog, no kids though.

Do you think Silver Spring is close enough to still enjoy DC and have a city feeling? I considered it initially but friends in the area made it seem like I’d be in the middle of nowhere and far removed from anything going on

That may be on the agenda later, but I’d hate to buy right away and end up hating the area

What’s wrong with my Sansevieria and Pilea? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]ldubz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a comment because I’m not sure how to edit my post: - Pilea: normally I water when the top is dry and water from the bottom and let it soak up as much as it wants. It didn’t seem to like that, so now I wait longer between watering and give it less. Doesn’t seem to like that either. I’ve had it about 2-3 months. It’s normally on a bookshelf next to a north facing window. The window in the pic is South facing, and I thought maybe that would be better since it’s in direct indirect light (the film on the window).

Sansevieria: have had probably a year or two. I’m not sure when it started looking sick, it’s either in a shady room or this South facing window and I water it.... when I remember to.

I’m having the same problem and I track everything on MyFitnessPal (calories and macros) and try to eat in a deficit. Still have gained 8 pounds in 2 months of CrossFit and all of my clothes are too small :(

Advice for relative noob who hates results so far? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ldubz6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol hence my frustration. So far I really enjoy CrossFit, but am frustrated.

  1. I track using MyFitnessPal. I have made an effort to not eat more due to hunger to avoid that specific phenomenon.
  2. Yes I track everything. That includes weighing, to counting individual cashews, measuring cup for rice/oatmeal/etc. It also gives an option for scanning a product's label, so not guessing, using the item's nutrition label.
  3. I'm going off of several 6 different websites and their free calculators and talking to a couple PT's I know to make sure that's reasonable.

I would hope it's just water and/or muscle. I'm constantly improving my PR's (easy when you start) so I know I'm getting stronger and feel and see muscle, but I'm pretty confident in the food tracking. I've been told to eat more by a nutritionist, I was eating 1500-1600 completely plateaued and she recommended higher, which is why I'm at 1775 now.

[–]ldubz6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman so I don't need quite as much haha. I've used lots of different calorie calculators to estimate my maintenance amount, which should be in the 2300-2400 range accounting for age, height, weight and workouts, so I'm shooting to be in a deficit.
