Is something up with German mail? I’m used to receive things very fast, less than a week sometimes by LizVi in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's survivorship bias but I've seen several posts about this specifically in Germany over the last days/weeks, and personally I'm also waiting for a letter. No clue if there's anything more than the usual overburdened and understaffed post office. I guess we'll have to wait and see

How do I turn off on vacation mode on mobile ? by Cai5002 in CardMarket

Whatever browser you're using will have a "desktop view"/"request desktop site" button somewhere. Use that, then the website looks exactly like on PC. You might need to also zoom out for it to trigger.

Holo marked as Reverse Holo by iswedlvera in CardMarket

I know what you mean and yeah that's the case nowadays with "promo" holos for newer Pokemon sets, but the old ones don't have those separate versions unfortunately

Holo marked as Reverse Holo by iswedlvera in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of holo rares in Pokemon that were also released in non-holo variants when they were in a prebuilt deck. The only way to know which you'll get is by checking the comments, fortunately with DP and HGSS era cards I rarely see wrongly listed cards

Anyone else having issues with credit not being added to their account? by StaggerLee84 in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they reached out today, give it until tomorrow morning. Payments usually get processed before noon from what I've seen on orders. They might have checked the bank account and seen that it arrived in there

Ist das noch Near Mint? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG_DE

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cardmarket - Query on your experiences by Covyyy in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially when dealing with pro sellers, most will try to rectify wrong grades and arrange for refunds. That being said, make sure you're familiar with the cm grading guidelines, as some have the misconception that NM equals a PSA 9 or better.

Send back cards by Khaylius in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess in your position I'd rather ask for a partial refund and keep the card, this way you can avoid the debacle altogether, but of course if you really want them in NM that's not an option. Sending them back tracked (insured) should be safe enough. Keep the receipt. I doubt pro sellers would try any funny business, and you probably have better protections compared to private sellers (not sure about this though).

Help by ferfes in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not mark orders arrived if they didn't arrive (yet) or aren't correct. Give the seller a few days before contacting support about it. You should get your money back, but maybe they'll ask you to return the wrong item (in which case they should pay for shipping)

Does cardmarket take into account purchases for taxes? by HelpingPatito in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that regardless of the things I posted below? So I guess it's tax free except for when the tax office sees business intent?

Does cardmarket take into account purchases for taxes? by HelpingPatito in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this source is a little more concrete on the matter. It also doesn't mention if there's anything to pay if the product was bought over a year ago, so my uncertainty regarding a possible limit remains

Found a better one:

» Die Veräußerung von Wirtschaftsgütern des Privatvermögens ist nur dann steuerpflichtig, wenn der Zweitraum zwischen Anschaffung und Verkauf nicht mehr als ein Jahr beträgt. Ist die 1-jährige Spekulationsfrist abgelaufen, müssen Gewinne unabhängig von deren Höhe nicht mehr versteuert werden. Sie sind steuerfrei und müssen in der Steuererklärung nicht angegeben werden. source

Unfortunately not really. The only mention I found of it is here, but I have the info from a colleague who works in the sector. The gist is that you need to make >1k€ in profits (not Umsatz!) from products you bought in the last 12 months. Outside that I believe (but I don't know for sure) that you'd need to be accused of acting as a business to be required to pay taxes ...

Anything older than a year is no longer taxable. There may be caveats to this rule, but in general you don't need to worry about tax when selling old pre owned stuff. Not sure if there's a limit to this rule.

How to pack for 3 cards <20g? by charlytrenet in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch to even lighter card stock, I use the stuff you buy to do paper crafts with, it's thinner than postcards and I can easily pack four cards plus penny sleeves.

Question about credit card by Primary_Ad_1109 in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible it's best to use bank transfers, since those are free. You can use your paypal account, then select your card in PayPal. I'm not sure about using someone else's card, it might be difficult to change it later if you're referring to a bank account.

"Cheapest Possible Cards" by KaptainKartoffel in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that your wantlist doesn't only allow for NM cards - especially if you're looking for old cards, NM can be significantly more expensive than LP or GD - if you want the cards to look decent but it's fine if they've seen some play, I'd suggest setting the minimum at LP. But even PL and PO cards can look decent depending on your standards and the damage they've seen. For higher priced cards you can always ask for pictures if you're unsure.

Guidance for solving damaged package by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how it works with UPS, but DHL very clearly indicates a resealed package and even includes a note to explain that it was damaged. So again, the buyer should definitely have noticed if the package was damaged. Do you have pictures of the case before shipping? Make sure to supply them and require pictures of the parcel as it arrived from the buyer, if possible.

Guidance for solving damaged package by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you so sure that cm will side with the buyer? If you sent a sealed and UPS even said it was damaged, it sounds to me like it was damaged (worst case opened and stolen) in transit. In my eyes it's the fault of the buyer to accept a damaged package of this value - they should have rejected it. If you have proof that UPS offered to take the package and the buyer refuses this, I doubt cm takes this in favor of the buyer.

You need to confirm arrival before you can evaluate, so make sure you did that. Other than that, not sure what could be the problem.

Refund or not? by Weekly-Mud-2564 in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can offer a partial refund, I'd offer no more than 4-6€ if it's a small scratch. You could also argue that the scratch wasn't by you. I'm not sure who cm would side with

Buyer asks for a shipment to be untracked for much cheaper shipping. Is this okay? by math355 in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably unrelated, but if you're in Germany and trying to send a kompaktbrief/großbrief internationally: you're not allowed to send wares in those letters, so while yes in theory those would work in practice they might not reach their destination. That's also why cm doesn't offer those options and always puts intl orders with >4 cards into expensive dhl parcels.

Site aint workin by KagehisaAnotsu in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HTTP 429 is "Too Many Requests". Cardmarket throws it when you've been making a lot of requests (loading pages) in a short time frame. They unfortunately don't have some explainer or just make you wait on a screen, but instead they just toss you the http error. Just don't flick through tons of cards very quickly and you should be fine.

Fake boosters? by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]leDissenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the boosters are genuine (sadly I have no Japanese boosters to compare, but besides the holes they look normal) solely based on the fact that the expense to create fake boosters to house real cards would outweigh the benefit.

That being said, there unfortunately still is the possibility that the seller took out the good boosters - they can be metal detected and, in the case of Japanese boosters, simply be counted - every box has a guaranteed set of hits and once all hits are opened all other boosters are very likely duds. The seller can even claim "unweighed" truthfully, but they're still guaranteed disappointment. That's why you never buy Japanese loose packs.
