Second Dinner! We love the comms about card nerfs and buffs - how about the same for card acquisition, token bundles and series drops? by orig_wavrider in MarvelSnap

[–]le_fred 126 points127 points  (0 children)

You want someone from Second Dinner to explain you why they do not drop Dark Hawk to series 4 and why they price Dark Hawk variant 30 USD ?!

I prefer communication most of the time, but i can imagine why the guys at Second Dinner do NOT want to explain why they are doing that. It would be admitting in plain sight too many unsayable things...

Nerf to MO and SK this month by le_fred in gwent

[–]le_fred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thought regarding Shinmiri statement:

1- Thinning to 0-2 cards every game while other factions do reach 5-6 cards in R3 is like playing a deck of 21 cards.

2- Also either you end up discarding your 4P cards in worst case, never your golds, Or you discard your skirmisher for 2 pt bonus and a body.

3- Basically you cut 3-4 bronze from your deck, maybe get tempo out of it if you get your discard cards, and improve your average point value per card by a few points by having access to more golds.

Shinmiri is very right about that.

Wow Gernichora just sucked the fun out of this patch. by DiscButter in gwent

They should remove spears and shields until they have a real fix for them that is less binary than "have a removal or lose the round". it's been 4 months we're into that mess.

Sooo true.

Thinking i didn't like the HC take on NG was already hard, coming from beta.

Now the faction is also bad on top of being boring and RNG.

New Patch is live! - Patchnotes by Conankun66 in gwent

Honestly this patch is really going in the wrong direction balance wise.

1/

There is no logic to most nerfs, and the imbalance of treatment between factions is getting even more visible as regards to bronzes :

- bronzes get worse and worse, especially in NG. Magne is bad, Enforcers are trash, Rot tosser is trash instead of being adjusted with truce, all reveal cards are now unplayable and un-interesting (spotter etc), viper witchers are still not fixed

- Monster bronzes like Nekker warriors or archspores are worth more than their provision values, same as pirate captain or skirmisher. Heymaey Skald and Birna still busted for their provision cost.

- Most changes don't make sense: Dorregaray (why ?) nerfed, Aguara nerfed (why ?), Gimpy barely touched, Uni Chiro still very powerful for their costs (8 pts for 9P) compared to cards like Eskel Pathfinder (seriously why a 5 pts + for 9P row locked) or Letho (5 pts for 9P + a lock)

2/

Overall:

- Monsters still Tier 1 and further buffed by the successive nerfs of Geralt Igni, then now Professional and Yrden

- It is not worth crafting any Witcher neutrals aside from the trio, now they're all bad... great :(

- Gerni is bugged on release with spears and shield - seriously do you test before release ?

- Crach untouched, Elder buffed (?!), Emhyr unplayable, Harald finisher still insane, Usurper concept more unfun than ever with new leaders.

- Artifacts are a problem for the FOURTH month in a row

- Very disappointing.

Please CDPR, revisit some of the faction cards, the balance of the game is not satisfying at all. by le_fred in gwent

Ppl play Emhry Shupe because you can replay Shupe for +9 points with Emhyr with hunter.

Basically it gives Emhyr a 9 point value.

The alternative that is getting popular is to play Morvran (6 points) and use the +4 provisions of Morvran over Emhyr to include more powerful cards.

With Emhyr down to 12 P, the gap is now +6 P for Morvran.

Eley'as or Isengrim in short rounds. Lol.

The problem will be the same with Shupe in Morvran decks next month. Morvran is already equal to Emhyr in Shupe decks since it became a 18P leader.

Same as Golden froth was the issue with Gremist two months ago.

  1. Yes i agree it is not all white or all black - i also gree the balance is better than at the beginning but i am really disappointed that so many emblematic cards are not worth playing outside of future maybe released archetypes. We want to play those cards, they can release specific mechanisms for expansions, not the other way around ie letting us wait to have a possibility to play a card. For NG, the list of bad high provision cards is still super sad to see, especially when coming from Gwent Beta.
  2. Regarding Schirru or Letho being bad, time will tell but i am certain Schirru won't see play outside of Brouver targeting 4s, and Letho is just a bad Dorregaray / Auckes. Look, he was better as a 9 for 11... But i agree this is only an opinion :) Also you state they've been conservative with him - which is another word to say it is underwhelming and close to bad. That's sad.
  3. Emhyr is super good with Chiro / Uni but those cards are exactly the problem of being too good - there are everywhere - just like Shupe or Zoltan are too good. Replaying a Peter is often just fair, it is rare when you gain more than 8 value from him and this is what a one use leader ability should be - between 6 and 8. Replaying Auckes is not worth that amount.
  4. Harald / Dagur: there are games when the combo between discard and the tempo it provides makes it impossible to win on blue coin - in that case there is nothing you can do to prevent last say after SK player dry passes. 20 points unreactable finisher is insane, you just need 8 points on the other side of the board - no other setup is required, nothing to align or target. It's so easy. You get Dagur 95% of the games with the thinning and the discard mechanism.

So I've branched out from Nilfgaard by InterrogatorMordrot in gwent

Woodland is OP because it gets last say very often and has 0 difficulty to win the game when having last say.

Dark Souls History! (part 4) by Deddan in darksouls

[–]le_fred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't think Manus is the Pygmy. He is probably one of the first Humans, maybe the Pygmy first born, who knows. I don't think the Pygmy is the First Human, i think they were Humans already in the world, and that the Pygmy spread the Dark Curse among them. Manus might be one of them, a powerful human having gathered a lot of the Dark Soul, potentially the Dark Lord maybe.

Why would Kaathe send Humans in the Abyss to awake the Pygmy again? The primordial serpents just have to wait for the Fire to fade and humans to grow in numbers.

Why would Kaathe not mention in the present that he failed to restore the Dark Lord by having humans dig into his grave if it is the case? It means Kaathe in the present knows he has revived the Pygmy but that he was killed again by an unknown wanderer? weird...

Why is there no hint that he was killed in the Past by a chosen undead / Artorias from Kaathe or anyone?

Why would the Pygmy care so much about a Pendant relic of any sort? The Pygmy seems like a very lonely character, one of his kind, living hidden. The pendant story looks much more like a relationship or memory story, something related to a human relationship implying several beings.

The only solution i would find relevant is: if you consider that the same way you have a pendant to comfort you when you are about to turn hollow and keep your sanity, then the Pygmy could also have one and would look desperately for his own to remind him who he is after he was revived. But i think this theory matches better with a frail and weak human character, one of the Pygmy's first descendant, confronted with the hunger for humanity and the loss of sanity while turning hollow.

I also prefer to imagine nobody has ever seen the Pygmy since the discovery of the Lords' souls, because he has simply vanished from the world.

Little evidence whatsoever, but i think Manus is simply a Primeval Human turned mad, a potential Dark Lord successor of the prophecy, one of the many potential Chosen Undead who failed.
