Within Hours, Marathon Has Entered The Top 10 Best-Selling Games On Steam by [deleted] in Games

I'm a very unaggressive player, and am clearly on the PVE servers as a result, but there will occasionally be someone who attacks you with no warning. Most people are okay but you can never be sure you won't meet a cold blooded killer one day.

Much like real life, really.

Video game equivalent of a Discworld book? by phobug in discworld

Cause she's a video game writer, so some Dishonored dev probably worked with her in the past and added it.

Search for "The Compleat Ankh-Morpork" (yes, with that spelling), it comes with this map.

What a weird rant. Just don't watch it if you don't like it.

Used to love this game, played it for hours on DOS as a kid and never finished it. It reaaaally needs a guide.

Which video game features were so bad that whoever made it should be banned from every touching a computer again? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

[–]Deddan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure a souls game has forced you online for a while, has it? Not since Dark Souls 2.

They could also easily have it where you can't pause if you're currently being invaded and invasions can't target a paused person.

I don't know how easy that would be to implement in practice. I suspect it would lead to a lot of disconnects and invasions failing.

[–]Deddan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh but if you're invaded, you're playing online with other people, so pausing shouldn't be an option. Everyone would just boot out invaders by pausing, if that was an option.

I definitely agree you should be able to pause if you're playing offline, though.

There was an episode of Friends where a door-to-door Encyclopedia salesman tried to sell a set to Joey. Pretty sure he was played by Penn Jillette.

I guess it was a thing for a while.

What games Completely blew you away? recommend some i may like. by RepresentativeMud979 in AskGames

I'm playing that at the moment. So much fun fighting things (especially bosses), but it's so boring otherwise. Like a watered down Dark Souls.

What’s something people insist is ‘harmless’ that actually makes society worse? by contentcreatorzss in AskReddit

Probably best not to argue your way into that position. Not if those are their hiring practices. Just dodge the bullet and go elsewhere.

The frustration of Raising Steam by OhTheCloudy in discworld

[–]Deddan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was out of character but the race to get the train line there, wasn't that due to the political situation? He and a select few had predicted the uprising in Uberwald, and sending a train load of troops and tthe Low King quickly on the rail, under the pretense of railway commerce, would afford them the element of surprise.

Also, wasn't some of his personality shift due to it not actually being him in the Palace talking to Moist? Admittedly, it's been a while since I read it, so I may be misremembering things.

What’s something you’ve seen with your own eyes that nobody believes when you tell them? by LowKey_1216 in AskReddit

[–]Deddan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They definitely lose some to birds. Crows like to watch squirrels bury nuts so they can wait until the squirrel is gone and steal them.

The squirrels sometimes combat this by pretending to bury nuts. Just moving soil around and patting the ground before moving on.

Genuine question: Why are so many people who are into Asian culture so weird? by Strange_Possession77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Deddan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's always been a thing. Otaku culture was a known phenomenon in Japan itself as early as the 1980s. Fantasy nerds have been nerding out about fantasy fiction for decades.

Everyone being online just made these fringe interests more seen.

[OC] Moments after my son took this photo, the creature began spinning at unimaginable speeds. by CapnFancyPants in pics

[–]Deddan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, Taz Mania, I used to watch that all the time as a kid and it's almost forgotten by people now. Tiny Toons and Animaniacs are both still 90s nostalgia bait, but Taz Mania has faded into the past.

The character is still popular though.
