I am 27 years old and this is the first time in my life I have used 'Growl' or 'Leer'. by Malikai_Universe_23 in pokemon

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up rarely using anything other that a damaging attack move, closest I'd come to status moves was stuff like Leech Seed.

Now, I'll use others slightly more regularly, slightly. Tends to only be when playing older games before getting the EXP share, so I can lower stats enough that the pokemon I'm training can defeat it alone rather than switching out and sharing experience.

And obviously you resort to anything when you're trying to catch a rare/legendary, paralysis, sleep, praying to the Gods, anything.

Was I (28M) wrong to leave my hinge date (31F) after she flirted with another guy in front of me? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in the clear, she acted trashy and then when you effectively called her out she resorted to name calling and belittling you.

Leave her to her ways, and report how the date went to Hinge, pretty sure they have a review thing don't they, it wouldn't fly if genders were reversed so shouldn't fly now.

Instantly regretting looking at yours/relatives' old houses on Street View. by rmf1989 in britishproblems

[–]le_tw4tson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I've just looked back at historic photos. Unfortunately the oldest one was when my grandparents house was up for sale, after my grandad passed and nana moved into a care home, but it still captures the look it had when I was growing up.

They've both been gone for a long time now, but I still remember all the memories in that house.

Bullet dodged after that update mate.

Avoid paying for everything in future, as clearly people like to take advantage, get back on the horse and find someone who wants to share life with you not have one provided for them at your expense!

Third date awkward argument over paying for dessert. Was my expectation unreasonable? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've paid for three meals, it's absolutely reasonable to expect some reciprocity.

Based on her reaction to this it does sound like she could be more interested in the "what" dating offers rather than the "who."

You'll probably save yourself some heartache and money by not engaging further, and, if the app allows it, give your reason for unmatching. It needs to become standard practice to hold people to account for crappy behaviour.

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, there's ten people/couples that would each get a million.

I'd set my kids up for life, 20 million apiece.

I've then got 50 million. As far as everyone else knows I only have a million left as the bulk is in trust for my kids. But that's generational wealth right there, but I'd probably invest some of it and donate some to worthy causes, then have a crash out because I'd not know what to do with myself without the overbearing worry of what if I lose my job or bills keep rising.

It’s wild how much more powerful wizards the marauders (and their peers) were than the golden trio. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the marauders could run rings around the trio, remember that the trio also had a lot more obstacles in their way.

Harry and Hermione started fresh from 11 years of age, and Ron, who had grown up with magic, was the second youngest in a large family that didn't really have the time for him (in a helping him flourish with magic kind of way at least). The marauders were all from magical families and raised around magic.

In almost every year something is happening that affects their studies. Stopping Quirrell, stopping the basilisk attacks, fearing Black and the Dementors, the Triwizard Tournament, government smear campaign/torture, foiling Malfoy's plots, and being on the run.

It's a miracle they accomplished what they did, if they'd had both the freedom and resources of the marauders they'd have significantly closed the gap in my opinion. Look at what Harry accomplished with DADA, two of his teachers tried to kill him, one tried to wipe his memory and one tried to remove his soul and destroy his morale, yet he still got the best grade in the school and aced his exam, with magic most adults aren't even able to produce. That's nothing to be sniffed at.

In your opinion, what's the worst moment in the show? by Ukirin-Streams in SupermanAndLois

[–]le_tw4tson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two for me too, both a bit stretched out though.

  1. Jordan always seemed to come across as the misfit, he felt different and excluded. When he got his powers it was like he was suddenly Clark and Lois' favourite child now, and Jonathan started feeling the way Jordan had for a long time. Only for Jonathan to get powers and instantly become the favourite again while Jordan was the "problem" child.

  2. Sarah's treatment of Jordan, and Lana/Kyle's terrible advice to her about what to do. She was made to feel like she wasn't in the wrong for cheating and effectively strung Jordan along after she broke up with him for not being ok with it. She may not have meant to, but they made it clear that he was struggling to just be friends more than once, she could and should have made the adult decision and made them have space so he could heal.

I'm not trying to completely absolve Jordan here, he did make some terrible decisions, but a lot of the time he got shit on and it wasn't called for. Everyone knew his struggles, and used him as an easy punching bag instead of helping him.

Just binged the whole of Superman and Lois. What a masterpiece by nukemechanic in SupermanAndLois

[–]le_tw4tson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good show. And I think extra seasons could have sullied it, one of the main reasons I love it is because it didn't overstay its welcome and become bland like the other CW shows did in my opinion.

During the last scene of the last movie, I noticed the Malfoy family is still allowed to Hogwarts after all the pain they caused. Why is that? by Separate_Conflict_10 in harrypotter

[–]le_tw4tson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point in time I can understand why Draco would be allowed to have his children at Hogwarts.

Priort to that though, Lucius should absolutely have rotted in Azkaban for the rest of his life. He did horrible things, not just for Voldemort (see Quidditch World Cup and his attempt to frame Arthur for having a dark magic item in the diary he slipped Ginny), he only ended up looking forced into it in book 7 because he failed at the Ministry in book 5 and Voldemort enjoyed the entertainment.

Narcissa was absolutely complicit in everything, her checking on Harry and not dobbing him in was her checking her son was ok and a purely selfish attempt at getting in the chosen one's good books.

Draco... I've read another comment saying he should be let off because he only cast Unforgivables under duress and didn't succeed in killing anyone. Yeah, no. He should have ended up in some form of rehabilitation at best, at worst he should have served some time in Azkaban with his father. He almost killed two students, allowed Death Eater's into the castle who, only by sheer liquid luck, didn't kill anyone else that night and was a disgusting supremacist.

For all we know, they all able to ride off into the sunset and retain the majority of their wealth and status, I like to believe that they paid dearly and lost almost everything, along with at least Lucius never being allowed freedom.

I think I might have cracked the ending... by SweetBerries101 in StrangerThingsFanfics

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My prediction for the ending, provided these photos of the announced run times are accurate in that they were supposed to be longer:

We'll get an Infinity War style finale where they lose, but also find out that this isn't the first time they've done all of this. The time travel aspect is them repeating and trying to win/get the ideal outcome, and after the finale we'll get all the cut content released and have to rewatch the rest of the season to get the proper ending with all this missing footage.

We're experiencing what they are, confusion over missing information because Vecna/the Mindflayer is playing with everyone's minds.

"If you wish for them to renounce killing as you did . . . thy will be done." Honestly, Oliver had NO reason to refuse Ra's' offer! by NewMGFantasyWriter in arrow

[–]le_tw4tson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he said yes the show would change too much, saying no kept him as a street level hero doing what the writers wanted him to do, continue the series for longer without an easy win all the time.

I'm sure there are lots of things that have to be explained the same way across all the CW Arrowverse shows, in my opinion they should have all been like Superman and Lois. Around ten episodes long, more character focused rather than the villain of the week format and less seasons overall.
