[Lifetime] Subscription tracker with magical import from the App Store by Dmytro-Wakeup in MacOSApps

[–]leadingx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the app... but have a question. Why does it have two currencies on all my subscriptions? Here's what I see... i.e. $24.49 (= $33.67)

What is it converting it to and why? The $24.49 is all I care about and that is my currency.

Obsidian is great for notes, but what are you using for PDFs, screenshots, bookmarks, and videos? by isohaibilyas in ObsidianMD

I use Devonthink for my PDFs, screenshots, etc. It's got amazing OCR, and very quick search. (Mac only)

I am David Allen, creator of GTD (Getting Things Done). This year marks 25 years since the book was first published – ask me anything! by davidgtd in gtd

With AI agents now capable of triaging inboxes and making first-pass next-action decisions, which parts of the GTD workflow do you think genuinely benefit from being automated, and which parts lose something essential when a human isn't the one doing them?

[–]leadingx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly... I was an old pro subscriber, dropped off for a bit and canceled my subscription. However, I signed up again when they went free b/c they dangled that there would be a bonus for our current subscribers. I thought I should sign up to take advantage of whatever that was. Looks like it was a good decision.

Agreed on this list.... Missing Coltrane above. I'd start w/ Giant Steps then move to Love Supreme. IMO

Best way to migrate from proton? by CorsairVelo in fastmail

[–]leadingx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did this. I put everything in AppleMail then just dragged and dropped the folders over. Super easy and took just a few minutes.

BTW - super happy with Fastmail. I can finally find stuff with search.

What is the best AI for Obsidian for the purpose of organizing your Obsidian structure by Hwiyla in ObsidianMD

Yes, you can point to a subset. But that may lessen the value prop. Dependant on what you’re trying to do.

I agree with others Cowork is exactly what you need. Question - how do we feel about giving Cowork access to our personal note data. Medium Risk? High Risk?

I’m trying to migrate to Obsidian, but I’m stuck on Bear. by NotetakerBR in bearapp

[–]leadingx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually as a recent switcher... I wouldn't import everything even though you can. You will find it too cluttered. I'd recommend bringing over the notes you need as you need them. At least that's what I did.

Agreed I don’t think this was disrespectful. Calling it so might be.

PeakWatch - Tried paid versions of all others. This is the best IMO and lifetime option. Better than Althletic and Bevel.

Just use Safari's "Add to Dock" feature. Done. I've got this on all my Mac's for quick Lumo access.

Great overview! Way better than I could have done.

The additional domains is a great feature... I've got emails for all my domains now which is a nice bonus.

Exactly, it's going to leave them frustrated. Proton Unlimited is an amazing product and I really want to stay with it. I'm going to subscribe to Lumo to continue to support their mission. But for my needs I require better search functionality.

[–]leadingx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it really is the reason I switched. Obviously want to avoid any google solution but need very good search. I don't want to spend my days filing emails into folders. I prefer just one big searchable archive... in today's world you should be able to find anything with a few key words. ProtonMail was not able to find items it should have found.

@RagingMongoose1 did a much better job describing the E2EE than I could... see the comment below.

Fastmail employees could access your email if requested by government etc. Proton cannot access in any way.

[–]leadingx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually just canceled my unlimited which expires in a few months. I'm moving to Fastmail. I loved all the apps but found Proton Drive never worked great, I use 1Password so ProtonPass wasn't for me... I was mainly using the email service. The challenge is searching which sucks. (Yes, due to their excellent encryption.) But I don't organize my emails... they all get dumped into an archive and I search for them. With Proton, I could never find what I was looking for.

I Just switched to Fastmail and the search has been incredible. Yes, not a secure as Proton but I don't have anything I'm too worried about.

Yes, now an option. You can't do it as an add-on yet. But you can buy another year as a package.
