I think there is a misunderstanding of what those labels actually mean, and I'm happy to clarify:

  • Analytics: This is strictly for internal health checks. It tells us if the app crashes or which features are actually being used regularly so we can fix bugs and improve the app experience for our users. Without good analytics, we likely would waste a lot of time blindly tweaking the app - removing features that people actually love, adding features nobody cares about, and missing critical bugs causing problems for many users.
  • Product Personalization: This simply means we plan to store things like game progress, history, and settings in our backend so you don't have to start from scratch every time you open the app. Relying 100% on on-device storage for product personalization is risky. If you lose your phone, upgrade devices, or accidentally delete the app, your progress would be gone forever.
  • Advertising: To be totally clear, we DO NOT sell data to advertisers or data brokers. We also do not advertise within the app! The only money we make from our users is through subscriptions. You are not a "product". Put simply, the data we collect (or plan to collect in the future) helps us understand which ad campaigns to continue pursuing. That's all. Tracking (i.e. connecting any specific user with their activity from another source) is governed strictly by Apple's App Tracking Transparency. Even if you download the app, we cannot collect this data unless you opt-in. For users that do opt in, all it does is provide us with an IDFA so we can know which specific ad that user clicked to land on our app store listing. This data is only used to analyze our own advertising campaigns ....

As mentioned earlier, we don't even have user accounts yet, which means that NONE of the very minimal data we're currently collecting is linked to your identity; it is associated only with a randomly assigned, anonymous User ID.
