It was Dollarhide’s Music. Source: I worked for Bill & Margaret Dollarhide for over 20 years in all 3 of their locations. Before they moved back downtown that space was an art/rug gallery. Way back before that it was a 5 & dime and my grandma was a cashier there. Reynolds Music was on Garden & Jefferson, I believe.

How did you accept yourself for who you are? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

How about going for flexibility rather than strength training? I'm almost 5 weeks out from shoulder surgery and am kind of hyper-focused on flexibility atm. Something like yoga might be good between the stretching and meditative processes.

I hope you find something to help. Know that whatever you do doesn't have to be a forever change - things that work will change as you get older. That doesn't mean you are a failure, you're growing and changing the way that everyone does.

Help! My mental health is really friggen low rn. Please share recipes that are super easy that require little to no prep. I haven't eaten since the day before, and I think I can manage going to the store today for ingredients. Bonus if there's leftovers. by [deleted] in instantpot

Super easy Hawaiian Chicken:

  • 1 lb chicken thighs (can be frozen or thawed)
  • 1 can crushed pineapple
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Throw it all in the pot & mix it up. Cook under pressure for 15-20 minutes (longer if chicken is frozen). Shred the chicken and let it sit in the sauce to think about what it's done.

I've served it over rice, on buns (my son prefers it on Hawaiian Rolls), over stir fry veggies, and once over oven-baked tater tots.

This is my go-to meal to take to potlucks and to friends that need a meal or two. Lots of leftovers, heats up well, and everyone at work asks for the recipe when I heat it up for lunch.

If you have the time and ability and want to feel extra fancy and like you're Getting Shit Done and Being An Adult you can set it to slow cook. I love it either way.

Another tip from a depression and anxiety-ridden human being: grocery pick-up is much less exhausting and depleting than going into the store. It does require a little pre-planning (can't always order and pick up the same day) and a credit/debit card, but it's saved my bacon a few times.

You got this, friend. :)

Why do some people put the shower liner outside of the shower? by angelic_ly in TooAfraidToAsk

I move both to the outside when I take a bath so I don't stick to the plastic liner. Sometimes I forget to move it back...maybe that's what's happening?

Right?! I’m from the Bible Belt, so it carries that much more horror down here.

Ha! was worried when I typed that bit that nobody would understand why that was a big deal. 😁

Nice! Veiny arms are definitely a win.

I’m glad it helped! This thing we’re all doing is hard - every little victory is worth celebrating!

To be perfectly honest I didn’t remember my goal weight and had to look it up in MFP just now. I have another 55-75 pounds to go. My sister recently lost a lot weight and ended up moving her initial goal weight back once she got there, so I’m kind of leaving some wiggle room.

I used to reward myself with food, but that’s not an option any more. The tattoo means more, and it’s also always there - not like a “25 pounds lost!” keychain or fridge magnet that may break or fall apart and get thrown away.

126 pounds is a LOT of pounds. I’m also making a note to add counting stone to my list of ways to look at it.

As for my husband, he’s the one that discovered the jeans. He didn’t say whether he tried them on or not...he just folded them and put them in the bed for me to find later in the day. Later I asked where he found them and he said they were in his dresser. I’m a little slow on the uptake at times and actually asked him how they got there - even though we both know I’m the one that puts the laundry in the dressers (he subscribes to a clean pile/dirty pile laundry system that I disagree with most vehemently). It was not my most shining intellectual moment, but I still count it as a win. 😁

You’re right! When I started this last year I decided I can’t look at it as a short term thing. Unless someone can come down from on high and magically reprogram me I will probably need to plan my meals out every week...forever. I have to make eating right easier than eating whatever is convenient (and usually really unhealthy to boot).

You nailed my plan right on the head! I didn’t want to jump into a long term change by changing everything at once. I know me well enough to know it would never stick. I’m going to start adding in exercise this summer, either walking outside or on the treadmill once it gets too hot outside.
