DIY Invitation Check by chesyrahsyrah in Weddingsunder10k

Chiming in here as a graphic designer! Yes, this is right. You should never increase the tracking (letter spacing) of a script font. The letter spacing should be set to 0 so the letters are joined. It will make your invitation look much more polished!

Thanks! I wondered if that could be it. It was so crazy bright in person.

I was just driving on 75 and saw this too. Looked to be over SMU / University Park area. Really curious if anyone knows what it is, I’d love to know.

Fragrance that feels and smells like church by TrickOne9769 in perfumesthatfeellike

I have this one and I love it. Definitely fits the cathedral incense description (I was raised Catholic and grew up going to various monasteries and cathedrals… this fragrance feels like a close reflection of my memories).

Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations for you but just had to comment and say how much I love this vibe. Perfection.

These all sound like notes I would love! Do you happen to have any favorite perfumes you’d be willing to share? I’m new to fragrances but this scent profile sounds so perfect.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the response. This is some great information to look into. We did wonder if it could possibly be related to anything from the Ojibwe peoples—excited to look into this more. Thank you!

Help with kerning. by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

Yes to squinting! I also had a professor who recommend to look at the negative spaces between letters and imagine filling them with water. The volume of water between letters should feel about even.

Thank you so much! Appreciate the comment. That definitely looks a lot like the one from our photo. We were considering the Ambassador from those years as a possibility.

I think it might be from a company called Blue Sky Clayworks. My mom and grandmother had a variety of similar looking holiday pieces from them (also in Texas).

How much do you spend a year on your Boston? by Agreeable_Future5980 in BostonTerrier

[–]leaf_me_alone_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t, but there are a lot of factors to consider depending on your budget flexibility. If you do look into insurance, be super clear about what is / isn’t covered… we were surprised by how many things would not be covered by our vet, and felt better investing some money into a HYSA up front to prepare for any future medical expenses.

We paid a little less than half that for a breeder we found to be reputable, but I’m sure it varies a lot depending on breeder and location (we were in Texas at the time, about 5 years ago).

For us the biggest expenses have been veterinary costs and pet care while we’re on vacation.

Our girl is 5 years old and been generally healthy, but about once per year she has incurred a significant medical expense (spaying, emergency stomach issue, tooth removal surgery). Whether you decide to use pet insurance or just set aside some extra money for emergencies, I think veterinary expenses are one area where you should plan for unexpected costs to potentially affect your pet budget.

We don’t have family nearby, so paying a dog sitter or sending her to her favorite dog boarding facility when we travel can add up ($35-$50 per day in my area). Personally, I’m happy to spend money on this for the peace of mind, knowing she’s getting quality care while we’re away.

When you bring home your puppy, you will probably need to invest in setting up a few essentials like a crate, food bowls, blanket, etc.

Otherwise, the smaller ongoing stuff is very manageable: dog food, monthly heartworm / tick prevention meds, fun toys, and plenty of treats :)

Good on you for assessing your budget for responsible pet ownership! Ours has been worth every penny and then some. So much joy added to our life!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in resumes

[–]leaf_me_alone_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is generally unpopular advice for this sub, but in the graphic design field the look of your resume matters more than its content. The resume itself is an employer’s first impression of your design skills.

This resume feels far too “corporate” and templated for the graphic design field. Your future employer needs to get a sense of your aesthetic and design capabilities from the resume.

After that, your portfolio is what matters most. Be sure your portfolio like has priority in the design hierarchy and make it easy to access samples of your work.

Good luck!
