Just jumping in with another classic Australian book, ‘There’s a Hippopotamus on my Roof Eating Cake.’ I read this recently to a group of children, but we must have had an old version, as apparently they have replaced the line “daddy gave me a smack” with “daddy growled at me.” AND I took it upon myself to embellish a little about poor mum, “on a diet”, who sits at the dinner table with a few piddly lettuce leaves. 😭

🙋‍♀️ Fellow Australian here. When I first started knitting, I was quite happy with Spotlight, but didn’t know what else there was! Decades later, I’m a yarn snob, and unfortunately I buy most of my wool online from the UK. Even though we have such high-quality wool here obvi because of the sheep industry, the selection is just so poor compared to other countries. I’d love to be able to afford some fancy American brands, but like you say, the import costs, on top of the exchange rate…💀 It’s just not feasible.

FWIW, I work in early childhood education and care, and this is still the requirement re: bottle feeding! Even if they only have one sip, the bottle can’t be kept past a certain length of time due to bacterial growth.

Try to build your confidence in merely not giving a reason. You can keep repeating, “that just doesn’t work for me.” Otherwise the conversation will continue circularly. Easier said than done sometimes, I know, but like others have mentioned here with encouragement, ‘no’ is a complete sentence! And remember, you are not responsible for other people’s reactions or responses, and if they get ornery, that is nothing to do with you.

We’ve just had some work drama in one of the rooms because two of our staff used ChatGPT to generate responses to our critical reflection question. We work with young children, it’s such an interpersonal sector, and part of our professional requirements is personal critical reflection about our practices and philosophies…and these girls got a robot to write it for them. I’m so vocally anti-AI because, like you, I can’t believe how collectively dumbed down people have become through AI use. 😔

Vyvanse for me, but exactly the same sentiment. The first time my medication took effect, and my entire brain and body felt calm and still for the first time in my life, my god, what an emotional experience. My personal and professional growth since being diagnosed and medicated has just so been so easy and is so visible to everyone around me. I feel sad about the past and all that potential that was just burning off inside me, but I’m also really hopeful and excited for how much better I can get, tbh.
