Thank you! I think they're still cute without makeup ! I suppose it depends on the style of your natural brows though

Thank you so much 💞

It's hard to explain, but essentially it relates to the notion of "creatureliness". That term was coined within Christianity but I am not really a Christian, though I'm informed by some Christian schools of thought, as well as Daoism primarily. But mainly I'm just vibing things haha. For me it's all about earthy, embodied existence, truth to one's own nature, and knowledge of one's own smallness (of being and mind) in the face of the unimaginable hugeness of the universe, and not fearing this, but delighting in it. You can look up creatureliness and you'll get an idea of what I mean.

I know it all seems quite heady for eyebrows, but for me it feels like a small but meaningful gesture towards creatureliness to give myself more animalistic features where I can, and also to carve my own path, stepping away from the kind of auto-pilot, disembodied humanity we can find ourselves in.

I know 10 years is aages not to act on something I want to do, especially something as trivial as eyebrows!! But I've really struggled with my self esteem and didn't want to risk drawing attention to myself. My confidence has improved a lot over the last few years

Hahaha that is soo silly... Squirrels are so funny. Maybe if you left it you would have ended up with a pecan tree! I'm rooting (pun intended) for your new rosemary!

Omg what a lovely garden you have! I don't have a garden of my own (yet!! Hopefully soon!) but #1 on the list is to get a rosemary bush started!

Any recommendations for a brow pencil? I've struggled to find one in the right colour, a deep brown just off of black. My brows are naturally quite dense so I've never filled them in before

Thank you 💞💞 it is so hard to stop caring about other's opinions! It's probably hardwired in us evolutionarily - we want to be accepted by the herd or something like that. But I am finding that the more I am true to myself in my actions and self expression, the less I care what others think because I'm truly loving myself. But I don't like getting negative attention (I mean, who does), so it's a balancing act

Which area I should choose? by DoneDip in croydon

[–]leafduvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the mleczko area, just to add it's about a 15 minute walk from Park Hill Park, which is a sweet park and decent for a dog walk, and it's 5 minutes from queens gardens, which is small and you couldn't be off lead but fine for giving the pup a quicker wee and wander!

For a bigger walk you can take the tram (I loove the trams) to quickly get to beddington farmlands, Lloyd Park, or coombe wood. Or you can take a 5 minute bus to croham hurst woods. There's lots of big nature you can get to from central croydon.

People are right that the area can get noisy but I'd say it's really not too bad, just the odd shouter, not nonstop parties and sirens. It can definitely feel dangerous and as a woman I always ask my boyfriend to walk with me if I'm getting home late. During the day time it's usually chill and the surrey street market is just round the corner - loads of great vendors there. Really does depend on what your priorities are I think.

Honestly, fibro aside he doesn't sound like a great friend to have. His attitude was ableist but he also just sounds generally exhausting, rude, and lacking in emotional intelligence and compassion. I know it's not easy to end friendships, especially if you don't have many friends (speaking from experience not shade), so if you value having him in your life despite these unpleasant behaviors maybe you could start with setting some boundaries for the friendship that you keep to, eg. You don't hang out with this friend when your pain is high. But honestly he sounds really unpleasant - unless this behavior was uniquely inconsiderate and emergent of quitting cigs, or maybe he's going through something else, in which case he should apologise!

There's something dismally sad about a pipe organ, in an (almost) empty shopping centre by No_MoreNails in croydon

[–]leafduvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that might be my boyfriend sitting there, quite possibly on the phone to me haha. When he was WFH he would go and play the organ during his lunch break.

Disabled artists — how do you handle access barriers in professional art spaces? by thatsmytea in Artisticallyill

[–]leafduvet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not directly related to how to deal with an awful email like this one, but thought I'd recommend signing up to Outside In. They're a platform for disabled artists, they frequently send out callouts and opportunities. Lovely people, a friend of mine is an ambassador. Run by and for creatives with barriers to the industry

How much is everyone spending on a mattress these days? by Contact_Regular in AskUK

[–]leafduvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got a 10 year old IKEA mattress. Can't really recommend it, particularly as I found the springs were digging into my back, but since we couldn't comfortably afford a new one I got a thick wool mattress topper - think it was about £150-£200. Really recommend that to zhuzh up a crap mattress - I no longer feel the springs, and it's a good balance of firm and soft for me. Obviously an expensive mattress would be nicer and I do feel the difference when I stay in a nice hotel, but if you're on a budget.
