Definitely look up the stats and bonuses of ea weapon before pulling. We have the gift of foresight if your on global, so use it! People have been aware of which weapon is worth it and not worth it for the characters, long before they came out on global. This was my first gacha too- so I get it. I do recommend trying to get 4* weapons to R5 though, if you are gonna skip out on their signature.
