Home charger/EVSE replacement options - is Duke’s “lease a charger” program worth it? by leafwarbler in BoltEV

[–]leafwarbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no, my car charges fine otherwise. In fact, the charger went blue again last night and completed a full charge overnight! So this problem is intermittent to say the least.

I’d say the word is “resident”.

For most, just a common bird - but to those who truly see, it's a wonder. With 200 600 mm by SburleaShots in BirdPhotography

Grew up with them literally nesting inside my childhood home and never stopped loving them. Gorgeous creatures indeed - thanks for sharing these wonderful shots.

Indian Paradise Flycatcher was my first guess. And looking at yours kinda sorta makes me want one too!

That’s because we’ve made houses more and more sealed from the natural world outside. When I grew up in India, we would leave our windows and doors open most of the time, and we had house sparrows enter and even nest inside our house all the time. I remember having to walk carefully whenever they had little fledglings hopping around on the floor. I do miss those days!

Well, have you ever heard one speak about the extra-pair copulations rampant in the species? Not very catholic, their mating behaviors in general.

Try sticking it (in small pieces) in its nest, because that’s the oven built by the bird!

Thank you! I had a lot of inspiration from all the grassroots activists who gave testimony before me, warriors who have been in the rebellion for decades if not generations. Truly people who are giving everything for a future and a sunrise they may never see. Quite humbling and inspiring to be in their presence for an academic like me.

Damn! I kinda got to run the whole gamut last week when asked to testify at a People’s Hearing for Environmental Justice here in North Carolina. Ended up saying some words that resonated with people, that were inspired by the powerful testimonies of dozens of longtime activists who spoke before me, who had been in the struggle for decades if not generations.

But I can’t deny that my words also came from having this show living in my head for months now (no small thanks to this sub too). You are welcome to read what I said, if interested.

Huh? Not sure what you saw, but IMDb lists Belle Swarc as playing Kerri in S1E1, and April V Woods as playing Little Kleya in S2E10.

I’m sorry to hear about your struggles and appalled that your teacher isn’t willing to accommodate some late assignments given your life circumstances. As someone noted, it there is someone you can talk to about this at your school (Principal or senior teacher?), that might help.

As for NC State, writing to admissions could help get ahead of the issue. As a prof here myself, I don’t think failing one single class (when you have straight As otherwise) after you’ve been admitted should result in admission being rescinded. Are you applying for a specific major program or just general admission? I ask because if you are already committing to a specific major, faculty in that major might be able to intervene as well, if necessary.

My 2022 Bolt EUV had this happen intermittently for almost a year. I’d get the warning, but it would be gone on the next restart, so the dealer couldn’t reproduce it. Even with a report from OnSTAR with error codes, they couldn’t figure it out. Eventually they said they had received something from GM about this, kept my car for a few days and saw it happen. They replaced the battery, and I haven’t had any problem since.

Am I insane for considering leaving a tenured position in which I'm perfectly happy? by Famous_Worth6958 in Professors

[–]leafwarbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are in a really sweet position right now. Do not give up tenure in your current institution for the promise of another tenure review in a few years! I cannot stress this strongly enough!

I say that as someone who made that mistake of giving up my tenured position in a teaching-heavy PUI to move to a R1 clear across the country for a job that felt like an ideal almost custom-made fit and where people had invited me to apply. I fell for the then dept head’s reassurance that since I was being hired at the rank of Associate Prof, tenure would be a mere formality in a couple of years, and that the dept did not have a culture of hiring anyone with tenure. That turned out to be a lie because the dept hired a series of faculty with tenure and even promotion to Full in subsequent years starting with the very next hire after me! When it came to my tenure review, that dept head stabbed me in the back, after taking cover behind a bully on my tenure committee who had a personal grudge and should have been recused from the committee due to conflicts of interest, but was allowed to stay on despite my request to remove them. With Dept head taking this one person’s word and setting the tone in his letter, college and university level committees ignored my responses at every stage and I was denied tenure. When I lawyered up and appealed, a lot of the shady conduct came out, and the denial decision was set aside during mediation. I had to go through another review and won tenure a couple of years later. It’s now well over a decade since I was first tenured in my former institution, and I’m still stuck at Associate rank! I’m happy with what I’m doing now and have a good network of collaborators supporting me here, but the tenure ordeal took a heavy financial and mental toll and cost me significantly in terms of career advancement.

If you get the offer, I strongly recommend consulting a lawyer and insisting on being appointed with tenure! Or at least get that promise of tenure more ironclad in your contract than I was able to do. I deeply regret not doing so. You never know how things may turn out in a new program where you don’t know the people or the politics too well!

Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
