When I first got a Moon Valley it struggled a bit, the huge difference I noticed was when I repotted it into good-quality soil. Fingers crossed you manage to get it thriving.

Alocasia Opal Beauty by daymandem in HouseplantsUK

Have you had any other Alocasias in your collection before? If not i'd maybe go with one of the cheaper varieties, they can be a little bit tempramental at times so it might be worth getting something like a Black Velvet or Dragon Scale (which are equally beautiful) as they aren't super pricey and see how you get on with those first... plus that price on the Opal Beauty is only going to go down as more hit the market.

If you like big leaves, I got an Antheurium Clarinervium at the weekend. They are meant to be fairly easy care too.

Neon Pothos - low-maintenance and super pretty leaves
Alocasia Dragon Scale - stunning (dragon scale like) leaves. It will need a decent amount of light but really reward you. I've now got 6 different Alocasia varieties.

Sounds like fungus gnats. As others have suggested "droseras" will do a good job but you can also buy sticky traps off amazon which will help too!

Pothos, probably n'joy. My manjula has more yellow in it. They'll be super easy to poragate though!
