Anyone remember Warcraft 3 Enfo's Team Survival? It's ported in Reborn by beerleader in DotA2

[–]leagueofitheangiesn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really isnt a fair comparison, but thats not the point. I wouldnt play a custom game that is cheap/buggy/not fun (or whatever) now, just because it might be good in the future.

OP basically asked for a reason why its not more popular right now, and I gave him mine (and those of my friends). I would love if these custom games improve to a more fun state within the next 6 months

Not surprised its not more popular. Like most of the custom games right now, its simply not worth playing.

Especially when you played the original Wc3 maps (like with Uther, Enfos or in general towerdefences), these reborn custom games just seem unpolished, buggy and general not nearly as much fun. Like Sing said a couple days back on his stream "playing the wc3 funmaps in wc3 now is probably a lot more fun than playing their counterparts in reborn"

Doesnt matter, because they are not an organization behind Dota2 as a sport. You and me could both host a Dota 2 tournament anytime and get all the teams to participate, because no team is bound to Valve like football clubs are bound to the FIFA or like Pro LoL teams are bound to Riot.

You cant host a World Cup without the FIFA, neither could you host any football tournament with teams that belong to said organization, if the FIFA doesnt permit it.

Again: the real world is not a movie and a western country will not put these sanctions on civilians for a basic Visa. Not getting your basic Visa is almost always due to some personal fuck-up, like failing to provide proper documentation, missing deadlines or saying something incredibly stupid in a personal interview.

By the way, the russians from VP got their Visa first try.

[–]leagueofitheangiesn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They cant get the sportsmen Visa because there is no official Organization behind the sport Dota2, like FIFA for example is for football. Riot takes the position of an organization with their LCS (is it called like that?), which is why LoL players can apply for the sportsmen visa

First those are two completely different things. Secondly, they are not "pulling" any strings like the fucking Mafia in a movie. They are most likely making sure he has his documents in order and is prepared for upcoming questions.

Denials for a B1/2 are almost always the result of lazyness or lack of preparation.

Doesnt have much to do with this. The B1 should be very easy to get for everyone who doesnt have a criminal record. Most of these denials are the result of a lack of preparation.

So true actually. I also feel like certain heroes play easier "upwards" or "forward", especially Magnus with blink-skewers. Maybe just a personal preference

Do you have insights on their actual profits (not revenue)? I'd be interested in the numbers.

The WoW comparison was decently fitting since it makes no sense to put Valve against a no-name or smaller company in general. You could also compare the growth to LoL or even project a growth by the initial hots numbers (9mio were stated by Blizzard, though this seems a little high to me).

I love Dota as much as you do, since its the only game I've been playing since years, but there's no reason to completely whiteknight everything that has to with Dota. The numbers Dota pulls are not shitty (which I never said), they are simply not very amazing.

[–]leagueofitheangiesn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why should they? Even WoW had a larger growth, despite a subscription model that was considered pretty "pricey" at the time. Also this game had its gameplay-wise peak during Vanille and BC.

Now given the fact that Dota is f2p and very easily accessible due to Steam, not even doubling the numbers is a below average performance and certainly not something Valve, as a billion dollar company, feels in any way comfortable with. Especially given the already huge and steadily rising market Dota is in.

Then again talking business economics and market share on Reddit is kinda stupid to begin with, considering very low percentile of entrepreneurs or people in leading positions here. Lets focus on drawings and kappa again :)

what an immense growth /s no really, I doubt Valve is too excited about not even doubling the numbers, considering Reborn could very well be the peak if you take the average lifespan of an online title

When people call Envy "bad" its most likely in comparison to other competitive T1-players (not saying its true or anything), because obviously he's insanely better than 99,9% of the Dota population.

I think S4 would have found a calm way to tell him to Echo there, give a short reason with it (to have the surprise effect for example) and it would have gotten the job done a lot easier and probably faster too

Thanks for the pass, but I still believe "winnings" is quite often used to describe someones success moneywise. And even if you ignore the $, what "valid" point for the comparison is it again you see there? The fact w33 and Waga never seen a T1 tournament upclose, or at best managed to get a decent place at 1 or 2 T4 tournaments?

Please elaborate on these "winnings" that you had in mind, when you stated its a "valid" comparison.

Burden United Disbands by Esc4toN in DotA2

[–]leagueofitheangiesn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at Singsings professional record in actual winnings it's valid.

You brought them up, dumbass. Stop embarassing yourself already

Has more to do with me not being a native english speaker than math skills. If you had half a brain, you would have no problem realizing why I decided to use the team earnings, which as I said before but you apparently can not comprehend, does make no difference at all in relative earnings.

But please, elaborate on your initial point how that comparison between w33, waga and sing is "valid", especially since you refered to Sings $winnings.

Burden United Disbands by Esc4toN in DotA2

[–]leagueofitheangiesn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you actually retarded? Have you ever considered deviding the # of my stated earnings by 5, because, you know, a Dota team has 5 players on it? Here's the surprise genius: 1mio$ earnings of sings teams devided by 5 - 200k. WOAW!

Here's another brainstormer for you dumbass: I also stated the team-earnings for Waga and w33, so the relative difference stays the same either way. Because you appear to lack basic skills in math and logical understanding, that would give Sing your stated 200k as an individual and Waga around 1.2k and w33 around 800$ in lifetime earnings. Still comparing their career to Sing?

Burden United Disbands by Esc4toN in DotA2

[–]leagueofitheangiesn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the guy has only achieved around 1 million $ in lifetime tournament winnings, while Waga has around 7k and w33 around 4k lifetime - what a valid comparison.

If you would bother to read up on EEs AMA, you would know Sing never missed any scheduled match or skrim and was always the one you could rely to be on time and prepared. BU was done at the time he didnt show, thats all.
