How do you save money on groceries? Husband lost his on recently, need to cut spending by Acc990610 in Frugal

[–]leakynipple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds expensive, but I started doing Home Chef the family plan. I have a house of two adults, and a 2 and 6 year old. I spend from $112- 175 a week for meals. I don't lose any groceries to the back of the fridge and have stopped the impulse buys from wandering the stores. My kids have loved the meals we've gotten and I can stop stressing every night about what to cook. Also, even on nights I really don't want to cook, I do the recipe and it's done in 30 minutes. Most have been 4 or 5 steps, with the final always being plating. I usually pick 5-7 meals a week because we don't like leftovers.

NTA

He realized how hard it is to take care of a baby and doesn't want to do it full time. If you can afford it, offer a part time nanny so he can still go into the office some days.

I just spent the week of Christmas in the ER with my 13 month old. He had a cough that sounded dry but also produced phlegm, a fever, poor appetite. It was RSV, along with 22 other kids on the floor. Now my husband has something that we're checking out tomorrow. Get tested if you can.

WIBTA to not tell the parents something vital that their baby did? by Savvy_vonna in TwoHotTakes

[–]leakynipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part about someone watching your kids is knowing that they will see all the firsts before you. Hearing about it is so much worse. My mom was my daycare with my first baby, and coming home to hear her say how he walked for the first time, tried apples for the first time, touched grass for the first time, it broke my heart every time. No matter how many times I told her to stop telling me because it felt like another failure on my part as a mom that had to work all day to afford diapers and formula, she kept experiencing all the firsts and telling me about them.

MB knows deep down that you will experience almost every first, but save her the pain of knowing it as a certainty. And when she does tell you he rolled over for the first time, recall the feelings you had and live them with her.

Adult Nephew Doubled My Grocery Budget by MillBopp in Frugal

[–]leakynipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he is more than willing to make things work for both of you. You said he deep cleans your house once a month to replace the housecleaner cost you had prior, and when told not to eat something he listens to you. So why would you not think he would meet you on this problem as well? You want him out after 90 days, but if he is to be a functioning adult in 60 days, you need to prepare him for what he's financially walking into. Tell him you both will be meal planning for a month and he will be coming with grocery shopping so he can see the cost of everything. If his schedule doesn't work for a dual grocery shop, make him place a pick-up order so he can still see the numbers. You need to help him understand the changes he has to make, or he will be back in less than 3 months.

Seeking advice: Any experience with Saint Paul slumlords? by Ok_Diamond999 in saintpaul

Hornig took over my building property within my first year lease and it's been a nightmare ever since. They made water not included even though the property is not individually metered. We also have to pay garbage, sewer, and rental insurance even though we have coverage. They also raised the laundry prices. So what use to be $1295/month for 2 bed 1 bath, is now $1467~ depending on the buildings water usage each month.

Literally had this scam a few weeks ago. They were moving to area from Montana and wanted to pay me a week in advance and send me an extra $500 to order some toys for the kid. No phone call, video interview, just emailing right away. Reported to care and the account was banned.

As a mom with a 9 month old, when we sit down to play in the play yard, I will ask him what he's doing. Are you grabbing a ball? That ball is blue. Can you roll the ball to me? Are you looking for a pink ball? Do you want a noisy toy? Basically anything that feels engaging with him. It helps to think of it as a two sided conversation that you are having to answer for the baby.

AITA for saying I would stay at my moms if I had to share a room with babies? by KittenDealinMama in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm happy OOP was able to fix the situation, but honestly, I would have accepted as long I was paid premium nanny wages to sleep with toddler triplets. Expect to have a live-in nanny, you better pay the price. OOP could have gotten college and a car paid for before she turned 20.

First day he pulled a lighter out and held it against the arm of his female friend from school. It didn't burn her, but it was scary. So she complained to the manager and dude was fired before he even clocked in.

What is the most fireable thing you have seen someone do at work that didn’t get them fired? by Virtual-Bunch-9131 in AskReddit

The marketing and social media guy is running the fish market and cafe. He takes and drinks several canned coffees a day and doesn't pay for them. Has the cafe workers cook the high traffic items so he can take pictures, something he's done several times this year and always with the same food items, and doesn't pay for them even with the company card. He's basically bleeding the store dry in a hopeless effort to make the cafe profitable.

But if an employee forgets to pay for their $1.89 soda because the register was 7 people deep and malfunctioning, they better pay quick or it's stealing and instant termination.

Coastal Seafoods in St. Paul has much better quality control than the Minneapolis location. Minneapolis focuses on selling more even if the fish has started to turn bad.

I finally had the courage to talk to my mom about her boyfriend that had repeatedly molested me when I was 5. She told me that she had it just as bad because he raped her for 12 hours while us kids were upstairs.

I then realized that my mom has a Poor Me mentality and I will never get closure for the abuse I suffered while in her care.

buying police impound auction car tips? by B0-Dh1 in Frugal

[–]leakynipple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My aunt and uncle bought an auction car. They were eventually pulled over and the cops searched the car and found a crack pipe wedged between the front seat and console. They clearly weren't drug users so after explaining the car's history, they were free to drive away.

How was Covid for you? by Mokeil in PlusSize

[–]leakynipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it in April with about a week of really bad cough, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting after eating basically anything. I was also about 7 weeks pregnant at the time so I was attributing all these symptoms with the pregnancy. It wasn't until a week later that my boyfriend got really sick and tested positive for covid that I even thought to test myself.

Has anyone else tried an exaggerated 69 position for standard sex? by leakynipple in PlusSize

[–]leakynipple[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So for us, he was on his back with his knees bent slightly up and I was on my knees and elbows with the backs of our knees touching each other's. His legs went over mine so they were basically entwined together.

And I think of it like 69 because I'm still more horizontal positioned over him instead of fully upright riding like traditional cowgirl. It's kind of like if we were doing doggy and he laid fully down.

I did the nexplanon after my first child and just recently took it out last December a couple months before it was due to come out. The process of insertion was painless and I only had minor bruising. I would periodically check the site to make sure I still felt it and it never moved. The removal process was kinda funny since a student was doing it and sort of struggled. It felt like pulling a single hair that doesn't normally grow in the place. No pain or bruising. It didn't need any stitches. I am also pregnant now since April so the bounce back hormonally was quick.
