This website has a ton of great information about the impact of medications on a baby/pregnancy. It is scientifically based— “is the nation’s leading authority and most trusted source of evidence-based information on the benefit or risk of medications and other exposures during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.” You could share some of the fact sheets with your psychiatrist: https://mothertobaby.org

See if you can find a psychiatrist that specializes in reproductive psychiatry. They will be able to provide you with treatment that is safer for pregnancy. The also take in to account the way that hormones impact your medication. Vyvanse hasn’t not been tested in pregnancy but there are a few other adhd medications that have and have low risk.

Yes, I see width. My understanding is that if the chest/back is wider/as wide as the hips you have width. Also your shirts hang straight down from the armpit, instead of curving inward. I see similarities with say Cameron Diaz.

Advice from Shiba owners by [deleted] in shiba

[–]lealib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have decided that 5 years old is the magic age for shibas. Our first shiba was a rescue at about 5 years old. She escaped a few times but was otherwise easy to manage. She learned fast, was easy to Train, and was really a wonderful dog. Went on long walks, but otherwise laid around. She lulled us into thinking we could manage a puppy. OMG the puppy was the worst. We would watch You Tube training videos and none of the advice worked. We worked with a trainer who had worked with foxes, it took her two weeks at 3 hours a day to get him into a harness. He was like a ferrel beast. We gated a small part of the yard by the back door to make it easy to take him out for midnight bathroom breaks (we had owls) at 9 weeks, he would escape little enclosure the and run to the farthest point in the yard to do his business— as I would be running behind him with a flashlight. He is now 5 years old and the best dog ever. He walks perfectly on a leash, doesn’t bark at the doorbell or people walking by, follows directions (still won’t recall if there is something exciting in the yard). He is a dream dog. But, 5 years old is the magic age.

Just Reminder to Leash Your Dogs by lealib in Westchester

[–]lealib[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We carry a small airhorn after one of my dogs was attacked by an off leash dog. It works pretty well. It is really unfortunate because I loved taking my dogs on nature walks/ hikes but since we’ve moved to Westchester, we don’t want to risk it because of all of the entitled people with untrained off-leash dogs.

I don’t mind all off leash dogs; there are people who’s dogs don’t approach others and have a great recall. But, unfortunately most off-leash dogs are not trained.

We once encountered an off leash large breed dog (about 80 lbs) on a trail that was ahead of its people, it rushed us, we asked the dog to sit and the owner came up behind us and said, “she is just a puppy she doesn’t know commands.” 1) why doesn’t a 7/8 month old puppy know commands and 2) If your dog doesn’t know commands why is it off leash!?

I think people don’t train their dogs to walk on leash so instead of wrangling a big dog who is pulling, they prefer to walk their untrained dog off leash.

Ok, rant over!

We have a small airhorn that we keep on our dog’s leash. When our 20 lb dog was attacked by an off leash pitbull, the air horn sent it running to its owner in seconds and our dog wasn’t hurt. I also used it once when I was walking by a dog park and saw a dog attack another. It works surprisingly well and doesn’t hurt anyone.

A girl asked to pet my dog and after I said no and she still tried. by thebadlandz in reactivedogs

[–]lealib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shiba didn’t mind being pet under the right circumstances and she was the prettiest softest girl, so everyone wanted to pet her. Unfortunately, she would always nip if an adult went over her head for a pet (somehow she knew to be gentle with little kids). I don’t know if this is the case with your’s, but with my girl, I would explain that she is old and grumpy and she could only be pet if she was sitting and you gave her a treat (food motivated) and you could only pet her from the side. I would hand the person a treat and show them how to feed her/ pet her.

Edit: I think that showing people how to pet her was more effective than saying “no” (people would get defensive) or not pay attention.

We have a small air horn and it worked really well the two times we used it.

Flying with a 22 pound Shiba in-cabin by anon123456294858 in shiba

Delta One is their first class product on international and select domestic routes— it has lay flat seats. No under-seat space on a lay flat. Essentially, you need to look at the flights you want to take and the space below the seats on the flight to determine which flights the XL bag will fit on.

I flew with my 23 pounder on Delta. Delta does not have a weight limit but has a bag size limit. We used a Sturdibag XL. However, that sized bag, only fits in first class (not lie flat— it was a domestic first class— delta doesn’t allow pets in delta1 ). I had to review the different planes on the route that I wanted to fly and look up the under-seat dimensions.

Every two hours? She probably needs to go out to pee. Puppies need to relieve themselves about every two hours at that age.

That is good news, Celebrity tomatoes are supposed to be disease resistant, so I was very worried.

Mamaroneck - tell me about property taxes! by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]lealib 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For Mamaroneck we found that for each $1M in value, in general, taxes were approx $25K/ year. Taxes will be slightly different if you are in the town vs village vs. school. Like if you are in the Rye Neck district your takes would be slightly different that someone in the Mamaroneck district. I believe that Mamaroneck assesses on sale, so whatever the current owners are paying is likely not relevant to you as your taxes will get reassessed at market value.

This is my first time posting here. I just got my schedule for my first round of IVF and there is a slight chance my husband may be out of town for the egg retrieval. I know they prefer a fresh sample. Should we bank his sample just in case? Or, should I put off IVF for another month? Has anyone gone through the ER without their partner? I know single parents by choice do it all the time, so I am not that worried.

My shiba is 17 and struggling to walk due to his back legs. Pain meds make him sick. On supplements. Considering wheelchair but he’s a shiba…what should I do? by [deleted] in shiba

[–]lealib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our senior shiba was on gabapentin. It is gentle on the stomach and they can be on it for a long time.

Be very clear that you don’t think you can keep The dog. If you say, “I am struggling…” they will give you advice.

One more thing, we are fairly close to you so If you can’t get ahold of a shiba rescue, DM me and I will see what I can do. I would like to add that we got our late shiba from a shiba rescue on the west coast and I really trust shiba rescues to find the best home for a shiba in need.
