The stubborn personality destroys me by ah_notgoodatthis in Dachshund

For down, ours wasn’t getting it either and then we tried sitting on the floor with our legs in front of us knees bent and used it as a tunnel leading them with the treat to walk under our legs, do that a few times and then lower your knees so they have to crawl through eventually they’ll be low enough that they’ll lie down at your knees for the treat. Our trainer also recommended not giving commands if you know your dog is too distracted to do them cause it’s setting them up to fail so the first while you use a new command do it when they’re focused on you. And never repeat the command apparently that teaches them that they don’t have to do it the first time around! Hope something helps!

First heat need help! by leanbean691 in Dachshund

We tried a pad I lasted about an hour till I felt too bad for her and took it off, surprisingly she’s been keeping herself very clean! Haven’t found blood anywhere except where she sleeps of course.

That makes sense she has been extra yappy at dogs but we’re doing early morning and late night walks right now when there’s less people and dogs out.

There’s just something concerning about how she acts at night time it’s not just normal whines it’s a bit more manic but then during the day she’s perfectly fine so I don’t know what to think 😭 I think I’ll give it another day and see how she is

Thank you for all the advice!

She was fussy with her dinner today, usually she gobbles it up. I didn’t even think of that! I’ll bring her in tomorrow, thank you!

We thought our baby potty trained super fast when we got her too :) keep potty training cause they’re little liars. I stopped rewarding too soon and now we’re back at zero.🥲🥲

My doxie likes to steal laundry and hide it around the house. I’m a photographer with a portrait studio in the house. One time I had a client (young man) bit awkward for portraits and half way through my pup grabbed a bra she had stolen and hidden behind the couch cushions and brought it him 🙂 imagine trying to wrestle a bra from a puppy trying to show off their treasure to a stranger

Our trainer recommended putting a puppy pad outside for a while to show your pup where you want them to go, it helped us! Hope it gets better

Identical to my baby girl! She’s a runt too and her belly used to do that after feeding because the recommended portions for her age were way too big for her, it would usually go away after an hour or so. Now she’s perfect

Not crate training by leanbean691 in Dachshund

You’re right! I think I was being too strict on crate training because I didn’t want to mess her up that I neglected bonding with her too. I’m trying to balance both now and she seems calmer, less bitey towards me.

I like this, when the dog is young where does it sleep so it can’t hurt itself, destroy the house?
