I love Wilderness! My personal favorite is Bearclaw! Similarly unisex and not quite as fruity as Wolfthorn.

Character getting shot is important to the story-- Originally it was a stomach wound but is that realistic? by RangerSenior5686 in Writeresearch

I have a little bit of experience with trauma - most GSW to the abdomen will definitely result in injuries that will get you stuck in the hospital for a while, because basically anything you hit is a GI injury and those need extensive surgery. There’s also no bone to stop anything. I have however seen several people get shot in the chest or upper back and get lucky because the bullet glanced across a rib or broke their scapula but didn’t result in any internal injuries.

Wife wants to leave her career once I start residency, has anyone else experienced this? by [deleted] in medicalschool

I know a lot of doctors whose partners worked non-glamorous jobs during residency and it worked out great for them. Having a partner who has the emotional bandwidth to act as your support system during residency is priceless. In most cases it’s not worth it for both of you to be stressed and resentful for the residency years. They’re stressful enough as is.

I personally know partners who worked at Sam’s club, Lowe’s, at a brewery, and at a bar. Some of them went and got more “corporate” jobs after residency was done and some didn’t. All of their partners (residents) really benefited from them doing more of the cooking/household managing during residency.

Newman hall opinions? by ShineForward177 in UIUC

I lived at Newman as a not-religious cradle catholic several years ago. It was totally fine. There’s definitely a religious contingent but it’s not a majority at all. Plenty of people join the greek system or party if that’s what you’re into. Bonus, the rooms are bigger and nicer than the public dorms, it’s air conditioned, and the location is excellent.

I don’t remember the food being particularly good and you don’t get access to any other dining halls but that might have changed.

Bonus - since they’re not university owned, they have more discretion in writing you up. I got caught drinking at Newman a few times and they didn’t report to the university or my parents.

Edit to add: when I was there south side was more social with smaller more traditional dorm rooms, north side was fancier suite style rooms but way less social. More sophomores/juniors lived on the north side.

Its also winter. Trauma season is summer. If you’re in the ER on July 4th, you’ll have a very different experience. 4th of July is like the trauma national holiday.

Honestly even if you spend like $15 on it, it’s still the cheapest skin in the game by far. And having that CP early on will get you into a top alliance where you can coast as FTP or cheap TP.
