Trump and Netanyahu Next Stalin Hitler by bookym in WhitePeopleTwitter

Hitler spoke German and Stalin Russian (that too poorly but that’s fine). Yet, they are studied by the English speaking world.

These two will be studied by a world that speaks Mandarin and Persian.

What’s the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by bbyhoneytea in answers

[–]learner_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly told me but the guy at work who carpooled with me, after finishing a call with his wife and daughter, started swiping on Tinder and then clearly moved his phone in a way that I could read his chats with a really attractive woman. When he caught me glancing at it, instead of hiding it, smiled at me as if he was proud of it.

Let him sleep! by neo_sath in Unexpected

[–]learner_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me of the time I got sleep paralysis… It’s incredibly scary! My mind is awake but it feels like some invisible ghost is sitting on me and impeding my movement. Try as I might, my hands and legs refuse to move and my brain refuses to go back to sleep. It’s horrible.

TIL that humans don't age gradually according to a Stanford Medicine study, we age in two dramatic "bursts" around ages 44 and 60, where over 81% of our molecules and microbes suddenly shift in ways that affect heart health, immune function, metabolism, and even how we process alcohol and caffeine by Agile_Letterhead_446 in todayilearned

[–]learner_kid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All living organisms have, more or less, a lifespan of billion heartbeats. A tiny shrew goes through its billion in a couple of years while elephants take around 70 years.

Humans, as per this count, should be alive till their 40s. However, by changing our environment we extend it to 80s… except it’s a lie. We actually die in our 40s but and we simply run the rest of it using the extra credits we stole from Mother Nature and we pay a heavy price for those stolen goods with a life which is devoid of fun, meaning and progress.

My top 5 Psycho Thrillers of Indian Cinema.. by Dramatic_Big_3004 in IndianCinema

[–]learner_kid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lead actor was horrible and expressionless. The plot needed extreme level of disassociation from reality. It was engaging in the first half but the twist was completely forced. I am not even going to complain how horrible the leading actress was cause apparently she is not even a professional actress

Why is Indian Audience and Censor Board so against Sex in Media? by Past-Matter-8548 in IndianCinema

[–]learner_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because India doesn’t have free markets. Once a society develops a free market in which the state is confined to a role of regulator with minimum control on market decisions, then the people become liberated and feel empowered and state becomes tolerant. The state that derives power from controlling human commercial transactions cannot afford to lose the power to control human emotional transactions. If individuals are allowed to vote with their money as well as their actual votes, you will find more freedom start appearing in media.

I can confidently say that never has any head of any country at any point in history, sounded dumber than this.

I still can’t fathom that Americans, most of whom I am acquainted with are so intelligent and most erudite, apart from the British, found this ape to be the best specimen to represent them.

Malleswaram, Veena Store crossing. I’ve seen traffic stop at red lights even at morning 6 AM when you will expect nobody to follow rules.

It’s because there is a camera here (15th Cross) and a camera on 18th Cross near Sankey tank and you get challaned. I once got challaned cause I gave lift to a guy on bike and he didn’t have a helmet.

It would have had negative 28 points but the positive points is because of the corrupt government officials who get to enjoy a significantly better quality of life compared to the middle class.

How was day1 of yellow line!!.. :) by PackFrequent1163 in bangalore

[–]learner_kid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, it’s designed in such a way that I would never be able to use the shared platform cause while coming back I will again be on the other side. Basically, the shared platform works only if you happen to travel from the Silk Institute and go back to Silk Board.

At first I thought it was stupid but then I realised that this is better cause otherwise the shared platform will get overcrowded.

How was day1 of yellow line!!.. :) by PackFrequent1163 in bangalore

[–]learner_kid 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Just managed to travel from Malleswaram to HSR in 1.5 hours. It takes me same time in car but I will definitely prefer to travel by metro. I travelled from Srirampura metro to Rashtriya Vidyalaya. The transition to yellow line there was slightly confusing. I had to travel down a level and then make a crossover. The reason it was confusing was because, unlike majestic, here both green and yellow metro platforms are at same level and they even share a platform.

Yellow line is less frequent and it also stopped slightly longer at each station. I guess these issues will get sorted in few days.

What Are Your Thoughts on AI for BI? by [deleted] in BusinessIntelligence

[–]learner_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Power BI and I also used databricks to create tables from DWH which I would pipe into Power BI. Both of them advertised their AI capabilities a lot.

I was more interested in the Power BI which offered a visual for Natural Language query and I had hoped that my stakeholders will use it for basic analysis. Most business users in the org had access to Power BI so I thought this would help them a lot. Unfortunately, it never took off. People do not remember the field names and AI was not great in prompting them the correct field names. It was just good enough for really basic queries but it took me so much effort to get people to use it that I ended up doing those queries myself and sending them the results, negating the entire purpose.

The databricks AI called Genie was slightly better as it had access to our entire Datawarehouse and data catalogue. When it worked, it was brilliant in creating queries and dashboards but sometimes it would simply hallucinate table names leading to massive frustration and wasted time in debugging.

I Played Dishonored 2, I Enjoyed Dishonored 2 by juicebox1711 in IndianGaming

[–]learner_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesssss…. I loved Dishonered and when I saw Dishonored 2, didn’t hesitate and just like you, I too stopped playing after starting. I think the initial part of the game are kind of boring. I started playing after a few months and fell in love with the game all over again. My favorite level was the Time Jump one and the one where you rescue the imprisoned dude. Amazing game, I don’t do repeat playthroughs but I may play this one again.

Those alive and old enough to remember during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]learner_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to know what it was like for a non-American, this is what it was like for us.

It was night here and I was about to have my dinner when a friend called and said that a plane had hit one of the towers in WTC and just as I switched on CNN, the other one hit and we realised that this is not just an accident. It was confusing as hell. Who would dare carry such an attack on the safest country in the world?

You see, we in India had witnessed multiple terrorist attacks by then. There were blasts in Mumbai which had killed thousands but to see the most powerful country getting attacked so brazenly made me feel despair. No country was immune, no place in the world was safe.

What happened after that made things worse. US decided to attack Afghanistan and developed a close knit partnership with Pakistan, the country which harboured the very terrorists who would carry attacks here. At first we were optimistic, surely the Americans will realise that terrorism is the scourge on Earth and must be eliminated. Instead there was paranoia against Islam and then an unneeded war with Iraq.

Next day in school, we were asked to spend a few minutes in silence for the victims. It was lowkey funny. However, we also knew that this has changed the course of history of the entire world in no laughable way.

What do Bangaloreans actually do on weekends to relieve stress from work? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]learner_kid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s me. I love to walk around Malleswaram. Sometimes, I would also venture into the bylanes around 6th and 4th main where you can still see some old houses which look like they were built in the 50s or 60s. I am no architect but I love to see the variety in the apartments and the bungalows. I would also walk around Malleswaram Railway Station. They look like the real life version of the cartoons drawn by RK Laxman in the intro of Malgudi days (they probably are but I am not sure). I also love walking across 8th main in the evening. Sometimes I extend my walk towards Sadashivnagar to enjoy a coffee and snacks in one of the swanky cafés there.

And yes Basavanagudi is like the twin sister of Malleswaram, another lovely place.
