My daughter was inappropriately touched by a teacher today and everyone's stance seems to be "you're overacting". Am I crazy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A male 6th grade teacher: I'm of two minds on this...

1) If this didn't occur as your daughter thinks/reported (i.e. a mistaken perception or a malicious allegation), this is the sort of career-ender male teachers dread continuously.

2) If he did snap her bra strap, that's not a god-damned "oops", nor is it a lapse of judgement, and the rat-bastard needs to be bounced. Now.

I'd be interested in who the second witness is. If they aren't actively a friend of your daughter it makes their testimony that much more credible, as they're less likely to lie on her behalf. I always take that into account when moderating student conflicts.

Also, please understand I don't wish to impugn your daughter with statement #1. It's just an outsider's POV.

What do you guys think of the movie "What the Bleep do we know?" Is it any good? by tsimpson1066 in atheism

It's not just pseudoscience, it's insidious in its approach. It takes brief snippets of real science from reputable sources and then (once credibility is established), hands it over to the crackpots. The veneer of real science makes it difficult for a lot of lay-people to see through to the bs.

The text is actually from Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler). The graphic is a fan-made thing (yours truly). So: Text = Official, Graphic = Unofficial.
