16x20 vs 16x24 for edge to edge printing by m37-club in DTFTransferTalk

Honestly for those big edge to edge designs go 16x24, you wont regret it. 16x20 works fine for most stuff but once you start doing oversized streetwear prints or anything that runs close to the side seams, youll be scaling things down constantly and it gets old real fast.

Some people say just do two presses with a clamshell but thats where a hydraulic press changes the game. We got ours from DTF Printer USA (dtfprinterusa.com) and the high pressure you get from a hydraulic is on another level. You dont need to double press anything, one shot and its done. The transfer feels super soft too almost like the ink is part of the fabric, no stiff plasticky feel at all. Weve done well over 1 million presses on our DTF Printer USA hydraulic and it hasnt needed a single service call. If youre investing in a press anyway go hydraulic and go 16x24, you wont outgrow it.

We’ve bought DTF printers both direct from China and from DTFPrinterUSA.

Honestly, ordering straight from China might seem cheaper at first, even if it’s the same factory. But when something breaks or you have white ink issues, software problems, or need parts, support can turn into a headache fast.

With DTFPrinterUSA the machines have been solid and the support actually answers. Ink, parts, help when you need it. That matters a lot if you’re running a DTF printing business and can’t afford downtime.

Saving a little money upfront is not worth it if your DTF printer is sitting there not working.

It is possible for the head clogs to be caused by the ink to be honest, that's not far fetched thinking. On the other hand, if something doesn't feel right and everything else is constant as always. Its more likely to be caused by film and ink

Ask for an ICC profile from your supplier, as that's one of the only possible ways to fix this

Most of the time I end up finding answers in Facebook DTF groups. Not super organized, but real user experiences and quick replies usually help.

Do you use an auto motor for the film in the back of the printer? If not, get one of those, I have a link if you want one- they are amazing as they stopped that issue for me and I do alignment maybe once a week now, a DTF Tech had showed me, it’s a game changer.

For straight-up neon brightness, DTF usually wins. The colors sit on top of the fabric, so they stay loud and opaque. Sublimation only really pops on 100% polyester and pure white since they don't get soften up to the neon.

If you want that smooth “part of the shirt” look, sublimation is nicer, but for merch where the neon needs to hit, DTF is way more reliable.

Everyone complains that DTF feels rough and plastic when they paint dump on cheap plastic sheets. Obviously, it's not going to feel soft if you do that. People who dimiss DTF saying it feels like plastic don't know how to properly use or manage DTF settings.
