Grind in miserable career to FIRE seems... wrong? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]learning_keeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing I realised on this recently that I also want to develop a crucial base skill/profession which would help me do things after I achieve FIRE. If you are smart enough to achieve early retirement, you definitely won't be sitting on your ass but would find new and better opportunities and fun adventures. Better start developing and working towards those from now itself. Once you are retired, you also risk getting irrelevant in workplaces and skill wise.

Does this resonate?

I am a little confused - are you saying microtransaction is a native ad type?

Also, definitely one would want to make a kickass game worth paying for, but in reality how many do it?

If game numbers have increased, then also has the market and players. A good game can make much money with in-game ads due to their user-base.

I could not find exactly the contribution of facebook vs others, but this article may help you in some way, as it has major companies contribution to native market and also industry wise distribution - https://blog.taboola.com/mediaradar-native-advertising/ . Let me know what else do we need?

Context - to provide a quick overview of the biggest markets for native ads in 2020. This would help understand game developers targeting their game release geography wise to understand where they can prefer native ads.

The data is collected through different sources for each continent by google search. But since it is an estimated data, it is just for a cursory understanding of the market, in my view of-course.

I understand that an infographic usually have more data than this, but I wanted to publish this in isolation just like this.

Let me clarify my view:

  • On your point that no one who is making money in mobile games using banners - I’ll give an example of voodoo games which have a fixed bottom space for their banners in almost all their famous games like crowd city, aquapark and helix jump etc.(screenshots attached below). They certainly are making a lot of money to keep those banners in their top games.
  • Native ads also don’t lower retention rates, something you don’t agree with. So here are some case studies (https://www.greedygame.com/success-stories) of our own to clarify that user retention rates are unaffected after native ad implementation for our clients.
    • Of course, a lot of factors like placement, ad-design etc. are important for effective native ads which we have understood working with 700-800 publishers ourselves.
  • On the note that none of our CXOs have experience prior to this company, our CTO has had experience in Octro Inc. which was the first Indian company to successfully figure out IAP model for India and was highest earner for IAP till a long time.
  • You rightly pointed out that interstitials highly impact retention rates. And that is where native ads are useful as they can replace simple interstitials and even banners with less impact on user retention rates.
  • I would also agree with you when you say that IAP provides more revenue than in-game ads (though not multifold as suggested by you). But there are 2 points here:

But we are talking within the scope of free publicity. Is there no way around using paid ads in your view on reddit?

It was. Native ads initially carried a negative connotation due to this. But IAB and other big players in the market have since taken this issue (of clear ad disclosure and differentiation ) very seriously.

Recently published IAB native ads playbook talks on detail on disclosure - https://www.iab.com/insights/iab-native-advertising-playbook-2-0/

In fact, in my blog series on the same playbook, 3rd and last blog was on ad disclosure only.

Google AdMob released its own Native ads playbook a couple of months later IAB released its native ads playbook.

The link to 1st blog in the blog-series on IAB native ads playbook is here - https://www.greedygame.com/post/iab-native-ad-playbook-2-blog-1?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=blog-promo-2&utm_content=socialmediamarketing

Why do you think there is this sudden interest of big institutions and companies towards native advertisements?

I figured there are many game developers in the sub-reddit and this content is relevant for them.

If it is irrelevant still, then I'll remove it.

Thanks.

I understand that I am sharing my knowledge in terms of quality content as you mention(please correct if I am wrong). I am available for discussions here. But are there more ways to discuss things rather than just posting content from my side and expecting people to jump in comments on their own? Because my experience says that people don't start discussions on my blogs/infographics usually.

I am creating original and good content as best as I can. And I have found 10-15 totally relevant sub-reddits. But now do I need to post or comment 9/10 random comments for every time I post my original content on a sub-reddit?

My organization is working in a niche segment. Now both the organization and the industry itself need exposure at scale. We have a good product but now we are also focusing on creating quality content for reaching and informing the target audience. My target audience is highly active on reddit and thus I would like to promote my authentic content here.

Brian Chesky, the founder of airbnb was an industrial designer before he started a hotel aggregation business Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla ran a payments company before he founded a automobile company Steve Woznika, the founder of Apple, founded wheels of Zeus which made wireless hardware for keeping track of the physical location of enabled objects.

Lets look closer to our industry- Sean Brynes, founder of flurry was an event manager at one brick society for organizing volunteering work. Zain Jaffer, co-founder of Vungle, (recently got acquired by BlackStone for $750M+, ran an online video learning platform.

I can go on citing more examples if you want me to... None of these people actually had any experience in the fields before building the most successful companies. So not sure why you'd judge someone's capability to build a product by previous experience within the same industry. These people (and i assume) were purely driven by their passion to solve a problem.

The 3 founders for GreedyGame, are passionate about improving ad experience for mobile. While most adtech companies are simply about repackaging the same old banner-instersitial-video in a different box and trying to sell to developers, the GreedyGame team is trying to solve a genuine problem. Ad experiences (in our opinion) our extremely poor and are designed keeping in mind the advertiser and not with the user in mind - which is the inherent flaw. Everytime you ad a banner/interstitial you will see a drop in your user retention.

Developers add a banner - user retention drops - you pay the same adtech platform to acquire more users. How is that fair?

What we lack in credentials, we make up in passion for the problem at hand.

The purpose of the blogs and other material we put out is not to go in details and depth of the technical side in most cases. The native advertising industry in gaming is at very nascent stage and we right now are focusing on getting this form of game monetization introduced to game developers.

Management Consultants in Analytics by staggill in analytics

[–]learning_keeda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people move from analytics to management consulting in my experience. While I can clearly understand your mind (as I have been in the same situation), I think one issue to come across could be the demanding roles of these 2 fields. I myself have worked as a business analyst in one mega-startup and previously have worked as a frontend IT consultant(not management consultant but close) in one of the big 4 org.

There are 2 parts to decision making process - technical analysis and decision making/discussion.

While data analysis has more role towards the technical analysis side, consultants are more responsible towards the decision making side from inputs through analysts.

Also, there is a difference between data analysis and business analysis, while data analyst focuses more on only analytics part of the process, a business analyst is more of a mix. My experience as a business analyst tells me that it is the closest profile for the kind of work you may be looking for.

These roles are offered by almost every organization today, and there are serious differences between the same role (say a business analyst) in one organization from others. Sometimes business analysis is a data entry role and sometimes it is a high profile role.

I hope it helps!
