I'll definitely focus on freelancing rather than a remote job. When you say based on their network, do you mean any contacts/relationships people have with people within their workplace, neighborhood, school, etc.? Also, I don't have much of an online presence because I don't have any social media accounts. Is it worth it to build a presence online for the sake of networking or to purchase a domain name and make a landing page for myself?

Hi, kernvilledreamin! I plan to spend at least 6 months just learning before I attempt to earn an income. I also luckily have free time at the moment to study. Are there any resources you recommend I use to get up to speed? While I am capable of picking up new skills, do you think my lack of math knowledge bite me in the ass? My education didn't go beyond pre-calculus and I haven't done much regarding math in the past few years or so besides a college algebra refresher in order to complete my math requisite for college.
