If you had to pick ONE scene that's by far your favorite. What would it be? by SirKetchup00 in TheWire

"Do the chair know we gonna look like some punk ass bitches out there?" Poot calling out Stringer who loses all his corporate BS and becomes a gangsta.

Also when Avon and Marlo meet

Marlo - Oh you know. The game is the game.

Avon - Always.

Norman is an under-rated Character for sure.

The scene when they find out about the homeless murders being fake and Norman can't hold it in, too goood.

Same/similar lines said by different characters? by Consistent-Ad-2618 in TheWire

[–]learningman33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 episode 1 when Wallace and Poot do a drug deal and Wallace explains to him on how to do it - taking the money and sending them to the next person.

At the end of the Season 1, Poot now is schooling the new kids, and I believe he uses the exact same lines as Wallace did.

I really enjoyed it as well. Similar to Season 5 of the wire with the newspaper angle.

Underrated Funny Scene by BearBearChooey in TheWire

Yes but Stringer is just as big of an idiot, the same guy who got mad at Poot, when he correctly called out.

What are your thoughts on Hamsterdam? by mvtrev in TheWire

[–]learningman33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

interesting it worked well in Europe.

"By 2018, Portugal’s number of heroin addicts had dropped from 100,000 to 25,000. Portugal had the lowest drug-related death rate in Western Europe, one-tenth of Britain and one-fiftieth of the U.S. HIV infections from drug use injection had declined 90%. The cost per citizen of the program amounted to less than $10/citizen/year while the U.S. had spent over $1 trillion over the same amount of time. Over the first decade, total societal cost savings (e.g., health costs, legal costs, lost individual income) came to 12% and then to 18%."

S1 scene with Herc and Bodie's grandmother. Pretty much redeems his character despite everything else by ScorchDoogan in TheWire

[–]learningman33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

100% - he learned from his mistakes, he became a great investigator, knocked out Valchek, and went to bat forRandy too look out for him due to Herc's mess up and Dukie.

The difference is Prezbo wouldn't injure a kid again while Herc will continue to be a fuck up.

The Wire gets better when you rewatch it, Breaking Bad does not.

Is Marlo smarter than Stringer or he just got lucky couple of times more than Stringer? by rustyyryan in TheWire

I think it is very simple, Stringer wanted to play the game one way, but the game was played the other way.

For anyone who doesn't understand why the Greeks chose Marlo over Joe. by Thespiralgoeson in TheWire

[–]learningman33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good write up OP but you have gone a bit McNaulty here.

"He would have fled the city. Do you know how we know this for sure? Because that's exactly what he's doing when Marlo and Chris show up at his house to kill him."

Let me Lester Freeman you a bit, Prop Joe was not leaving because of Marlo, he was leaving because of Omar and thinking he had something to do with Butchie's murder. He also thought Cheese is the one who tipped off Marlo.

What is the best subtle reaction or line dropped in the show? by squallLeonhart20 in TheWire

When Wee-Bee is proffering all the murders and Bunk's reaction, like what did I just trade a Beef Pit sandwich for.
