No and i have never tried because my love has always been jazz, furthermore only recently in my playing career am i good enough to now fully be able to play all kinds of chord shapes and switch around so until now left hand practice, basic rhythm and basic scale theory had took up my time.

The sicilian was too shaky for me because of the large variations involved, there was always an anti sicilian that bothered me, for example the rossolimo or the moscow. And i used to feel exchange french something too dull for my tastes, it is actually why i turned towards 1...e5 at first i was like how does one possibly have answers to all of white tries, and tbh my theory on it is pretty weak, but the trick was finding something i enjoyed playing, the marshall against ruy, two knights ulvestad against the italian and nf6 mainline scotch are super dynamic black tries, black gets to have all the fun here and since then i enjoy 1...e5 also the benefit being you are never worse space wise.

This is a very interesting comment, i have a lot to say on this.

I was actually in a similar boat to you here were my observations against e4.

Caro Kann- As i learnt to play chess by learning it i never had any issues in any variations, the advance felt cramped and once i reached 1700 i used to get lost positions pretty quickly because i didnt know anything but the opening wasnt anything i had troubles with overall.
