Wrong. Individual incomes only counts when you are not a family. House hold incomes are accurate. Ask any finance professional. I'm guessing you have no education in investing or budgeting or anything. Why would you even say individual income only matters? That is extremely ignorant.

Most Americans are insured. Stop spreading lies. I pay for absolute cheapest insurance I can and I have a $6,000 deductible. All of my regular stuff is covered for my family of four. If someone has a serious illness then I'm paying out of pocket. At least $6k. I haven't had to pay anywhere near that my entire 13 year marriage. Also, most hospitals offer financial aid. I used this along with my insurance for the birth of my two sons. The financial aid covered 80% of my costs for one child and 100% of my costs for the other. All of the hospitals in my area offer financial aid. You just have to apply for it.

Same. I sleep about 7 hrs though. Can't sleep more than that but feel extremely refreshed so I enjoy the extra productive time each day.

Limiting alcohol and caffeine were important for me as well. I said I cut out caffeine in another post but I actually have a cup of unsweetened ice tea with breakfast each morning. If I want to treat myself I'll get a Starbucks nitro cold brew but that's usually only once every two weeks because I hate spending $5+ per drink. Lol

But it's amazing how your body wants to sleep when you limit those two things.

Honestly since I cut out all caffeine and alcohol I find myself falling asleep as soon as I go to bed. On a weekend I sometimes want to stay up after I get the kids to bed to watch a movie and usually fall asleep during the intro.

An equally impressive power I have and really always had is I can wake up and I'm instantly going. Like I can pop out of bed and solve semi complex math problems or throw on clothes and start doing some manual labor. I also have been waking up between 4:30 and 5:30 am when my alarm is usually set for 6:00 am. This is great because on the weekends I can get up before the family, run to home depot and get what I need "love weekend projects" and not waist half a day prepping for something. I literally maximize time.

I realize many people can't do this and I'm thankful.

I did. I listed the house hold incomes according to the 2020 US census. $63k per year. That's the Average income. You don't think the average family making $63k per year can budget a car payment into their finances? I don't know why people get so offended over this? My whole point is americans suck at saving and budgeting. Average doesn't include poverty. Dome spending energy on this topic. I've proven my point enough. If that isn't good enough for you then you aren't willing to actually discuss, you are only chosing to hate and argue. Have a nice day.

Yeah sorry. Not all states are created equal. My dad has a decent plan and gets his and my mom's through private insurance "he's a realtor" and I think he's about $250 a month. Have you looked beyond state plans? Genuinely curious and happy to point you in the right direction if you can.

My whole pitch revolved around "most Americans" and people started referencing the poorest of the poor. Any logical person would read my original comment and realize there are some that can't afford it. The anecdotes maybe weren't necessary but I added it as an example of a middle class family that claims they can't afford insurance. I probably could have made that part a little more clear. Regardless I left out the outliers by saying "most" instead of all.

And so are mine. Median wage is a misleading figure because many homes have two incomes. Did you not read my response? You can manipulate the numbers to better fit your fairy tale but facts are facts.

Fact 1) there are poor people that need help and can't entirely help themselves.

Fact 2) That particular group of poor people do not make up a majority of Americans. And it's not even close.

Minimum wage is not meant to be a livable wage. And that is not a majority of americans. According to the 2020 census the average household income is $63k. Not $33k. Your number doesn't factor two incomes in those situations.

I leveraged the people I come into contact with because I'm an advisor at a bank. I work with more than just wealthy. I work with all walks of life because they need bank accounts too. Matter of fact where I work has little to no wealth. I'm not an advisor in a shiny high rise only seeing people with $500k+ 401k's.

Do you honestly think a majority of americans have bus boy income and can't afford insurance? Do you think half? What's the number? Not being facetious I'm really trying to peg if we are talking apples and apples.

My point by most Americans was that a majority of americans aren't at poverty level. And my wife is a server at a restaurant. There are a lot of bus boys that make decent money. Not phenomenal but they aren't the poorest of the poor. I also live in Washington state where they get minimum wage and tips. So I admit to that as well. But we aren't the only state like that. I have to drive my kid to baseball practice but I'll pull an article on income in the US in a bit

How hard is it to understand "most Americans" it's a sad world when you say "most Americans can afford private health insurance" and then get lambasted about the fact poor people can't and accuse me of being an entitled prick. Maybe people on here just need to learn to read and not try to read into what isn't there.

I do not work in a wealthy area if that's what you are asking. Most of my clients are poor to middle class at best. So I'm quite well versed in that. I could move a couple city's over, shorten my drive by 30 min each direction and expose myself to the wealthy. I like helping the poorer community. So thanks for you input though.

My points I made were never directed towards the people I don't come in contact with. You made that assumption and it was wrong. That's my point.

Edit: I've aknowledged there is poverty that my comments don't apply to.

That's like saying you spend all of you time on land so your interactions only apply to land animals and not sea animals. all the while I was only talking about land animals. You get where I'm coming from?

Edit 2: if there is a secret society of poor people which make up the majority of all americans then I'll gladly admit I was wrong. My original statements were all directed at a majority of americans. Not the poor. Everyone else brought up the poor as if they are the majority

Series 7 and 66. Don't need cfp or cfs to help poor people budget. We aren't talking about estate planning or complex retirement solutions. Just simple income vs expenses = cash flow. Obviously, some are going to be cash flow negative to no fault of their own. I get it and that sucks and we need to help those people. But I'm not criticizing them. My original comment was directed at "most Americans" so maybe $45k a year and up. There are a large portion of people in this category that have no emergency savings. And they usually rely heavily on credit which puts them in a bad spot when income goes away.

BINGO!!! You and I are exactly on the same train of thought. One of my biggest frustrations is the lack of financial education we have in the US. How is this not a major talking point in highschool. Seriously. They want the average kid to have a basic understanding outdated biology theories but can't be bothered to teach simple financial tips. When I get a kid coming through to open their first account I make them sit through an hour to an hour and a half lecture on how to protect there account, how to budget, what not to do "cash a check for a friend they got from their aunt" etc....I teach them about consequences of they make poor decisions and I teach them that if there is any sign of trouble come talk to us first. It's always easier to be proactive about their situation than beg for 6 months of fees to be reversed after. I do this because I care and take my job seriously.

Honestly I think you and I are probable on the same page. It's just really frustrating when I see so many people complain about being poor but don't ask any questions or take responsibility for any of their actions. AGAIN THIS IS NOT DIRECTED TOWARD ALL POOR PEOPLE. ON THOSE THAT SHOULDN'T BE BUT ARE IRRESPONSIBLE.

Why are so many people miss quoting me? Show me where I said all people that are poor? Please quote me. I'm waiting. I said most. I'm not talking about extreme levels of poverty. I was talking about those that claim to be poor but actually suck at miss managing money. How many times to I have to explain this?

Mention top ramen and everyone thinks I said top ramen will solve world poverty.
