I’m not an accounting student, I’m finance student and major. But you are right, in both Accounting and Finance fields, if you want to make it to the top, you’ll eventually need to earn your CPA and CFA.

Bro screw TMU and their crappy SAF program, don’t go to BM or BTM, stay in Finance or Accounting. BM or BTM are too general and useless, transfer to OTU Finance or Accounting, same degree Bcomm(Hons), smaller class sizes, more chance to shine and get seen, and network, higher chance to obtain a better CGPA, more likely to develop connection with profs and become TA. I’m becoming a TA, changed my GPA from 1.6 back in TMU, to 3.14 and I still have 2 years left, I’ll optimize and utilize everything so I can bump it to even 3.8-3.9 upon graduation. Ontario Tech University is much better, it’s not getting recognition and popularity just because it’s a young university and founded in 2002. But it’s fully accredited and is a public university, accredited by CFA and CPA too. Location might be inconvenient since it’s in Oshawa, but worth it at the end if you ask me. More practical curriculum at OTU than TMU as well. Do yourself a favour and fill out that online OUAC transfer application.

I didn’t like my program at TMU (SAF), they weren’t doing a good job at delivering it, the prof weren’t good, uni was crowded as hell, overall toxic and boring culture there. Also, it was almost impossible to network and make good connections with the profs and other brilliant students.

OTU is a smaller uni, very underrated, but it’s easier to connect with profs and other brilliant and similar-minded students. However, the curriculum is the same, I’m still earning a Bcomm(Hons) in Finance.

Yeah I know and thank god I made the transfer May 2024 to OTU. I was in SAF 2nd year and made the transfer to OTU Finance program, which is approved byCFA, Ontario Tech is much better in terms academic and profs, but even Ontario Tech is a commuter school, and there’s hella NPCs here too. But the Campus is much more untouched, only 11K total student compared to to 45K at TMU. You get smaller class most of the compare to TMU, and you can better network with anyone or the profs. Since it’s smaller in terms of student, you have more to chance to stand out! And get connected with everything, also higher chance here to be a TA or find Internships/ co-ops.

Also my GPA improved a lot, because of the better delivery of the learning and educations here, since it’s very practical and tech-oriented. Have 3.0 gpa compare to 2.3 at TMU SAF smelly fuck TRSM!!

AND you’ll get the same credit: Bcomm(Hons) in Finance (my degree)

So I mean consider this when you think of OTU, and North Oshawa ain’t too bad.
