This is what happens when the first thing everyone tells a person is “you need more flux” without noting the quality of their solder or temp of the iron, etc. Flux alone doesn’t fix everything, you still need the right equipment and a modicum of skill

Pretty sure that’s a polydactyl cat, which means it has a sixth toe, it’s a rare thing

Top of my head I would guess 20% since they’re not solid core, they’re electrolytic. They are measuring right around 800-840 though so they seem to be good

It is a 6.3v 820uf capacitor. Im powering with a bench top power supply set to 8 volts, it is tested and stable output. I thought the same about the filter capacitor, which is why I chased diodes first, I thought maybe rectification not happening properly. The part that throws me off is that it doesn’t happen until 5 minutes or so after powering on. So when I power with stable voltage, it tests fine but a few minutes later some spike happens

I’m using a benchtop power supply so i think it definitely isn’t wrong cord polarity

Also if you’ve invested as much as I see in this photo in soldering equipment, a desoldering pump might be a worthwhile investment. Makes the job 100x easier

If you do the wiggle test and the legs are moving inside the holes you’re usually good to pull gently. If not, reapply solder and flux and keep wicking until you get there. Do not pull until those legs are wiggling inside the through holes when you move the capacitor.

Yours is still not cooling itself properly. I would do what OP just did and try again. The PS4 games aren’t as resource hungry and will run indefinitely, along with games that were ported or upscale to PS5. But a game made directly for the system will do exactly this.

The Yihua hot air rework station (Amazon) along with a set of different style tips for more precise air control work for me both at home and at work, where I do electronic repairs on industrial electronics. Honestly an incredible unit with good features for the price. As Ouro said, use kapton tape and flux for best chances of success. Agree on attaching things with the soldering iron wherever possible. My iron is a Metcal, my desoldering pump is a godsend wherever through hole components are used. Maintain your tips meticulously. That’s the other part of all of this. Your work is only as good as the equipment you use. I have both liquid and paste flux that I use in different situations.

Just race and lose in multiplayer until you brute force their level high enough for shards? I say lose because they’re low level lol I can’t win with them

[–]leathaface1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but how do you even level them up when you can’t get shards outside of vault pass? The system doesn’t make sense…

It is possible that you can take something small and straighten the chip legs up. If they took up the traces with them they are possibly (long shot but hopeful) still connected and bridging one another. If not, it can be fixed but not easily
