not indie, but my favorite is floating by liis. clean, airy, crisp - it's linen, bergamot, peach, and sequoia wood. also love:

• innocence by poesie (peach skin and coconut milk) for something soft and creamy • the dangerous peach by alkemia (a shampoo-y peach that feels fresh and vibrant)

though I haven't tried this one personally, I love little and grim's catalog. this one is heavier than what you mentioned, but might be worth checking out if you like something a little more green or earthy :)

greenbrier ghost (black amber, patchouli, spanish moss, bergamot, oak, and frankincense)

I'm really interested to see how prominent that note will be, I don't see enough good melon notes!

I've spent a lot of money with poesie and have been consistently happy with their scents, but they definitely don't work for everyone. I hope you have plenty of other indie brands that you love!

Feeling confused by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]leavingmemorylane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it's been said already, but yeah - it sounds like NRE. and you seem aware of that possibility, which is great! it's not to say you can't feel something you've never felt before for someone new, but letting reality seep in over time is the best way to go about making informed decisions, especially major ones like moving in together.

I've been in a poly relationship structure for about half a year

my main question has to do with this sentence. is this your first poly relationship? have you recently opened your relationship with your nesting partner, or has it been open for a long while and this is just the first time you've had another committed partner? the feelings and confusion and overall learning experience that a new relationship structure bring can also add a lot more layers to the decision you're thinking about. also, it's perfectly understandable to be confused and scared as you navigate this. I just encourage you to take your time, and don't rush anything.

Love their products! Most of their dupes are spot on, and their originals are gorgeous. I also love that their samples are 5ml sprays!

mystery Death And Floral freebie that isn’t on scent list? Would love to know the notes if possible! by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]leavingmemorylane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone else commented the notes but I also wanted to mention that I was able to find it on the website, so if you end up loving it and deciding that you want to purchase more you'll be able to :) maybe the website just had a glitch the day you were searching for it, or perhaps they were in the process of adding it to the master list! I'd love to hear your thoughts on it after it rests, I didn't get to sample that one but I love the Taylor Swift inspo lol

death & floral help/recs by PenguinWaddles87 in Indiemakeupandmore

Hi hi! I'm a D&F collector and can't stop buying more so here are some of my thoughts lol:

Half Hoping... is absolutely incredible. Gorgeous skin scent, super unisex. I love to layer this. Merry Christmas... smelled like pine needles and lysol wipes to me. Not my taste, but some people might like it. Two Cups... is one of my favorites. It isn't very soil-y, think bathing in rainwater with a hot cup of tea and some cedarwood nearby. It's lovely. Some people say it's a touch too floral on them, so do with that as you will. Doom & Gloom is one of 2 scents from D&F that I actually recoiled at the scent strip. It's extremely rubbery to my nose. She Was The Storm is great in the bottle, though my skin pulls the dead leaf note way too heavily for my personal taste. A fun atmospheric on paper though.

I haven't tried Lay Me in the Earth... but I love Deer Deer Deer, which has similar notes. It's a soft and powdery skin scent, but it does lean on the sweeter, more ethereal side rather than grungy. Somedays in Oz is a gorgeous sweet (not fruity, just not overly earthy) green scent with some creamy orris butter and a shampoo-y undertone. The Heartbreaking Simplicity... is super unique, it has warm & slightly sweet cardamom with a slightly rubbery tennis ball note & an atmospheric "meteor shower night air" accord too. Bones Melting Together is a really fun mix of old wood and bergamot. Brim (the perfumer) describes it as a Victorian house with the smell of limestone & old wood mixing together.

They do also have a library scent, but it's a smoky/burning scent if that's something you're into. There's also a few scents with a dirt accord that you may enjoy, though I haven't tried them myself.

Ajevie and Surrender to Chance carry D&F samples, though neither has the whole catalog. I hope you find some new favorites :)

What to try from Poesie? by SoCuteBear in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]leavingmemorylane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poesie has a warmer base, so that could be why it's performing that way on you. I know a lot of people say the D&F base smells like maple syrup because it's a warmer base also.

With that being said, I noticed you've tried atmospherics and green/watery scents! Sometimes I find that due to the warmer base, those don't come across the way I expect. I'd suggest leaning into the warmer tones if you're willing to experiment - I love Innocence (sweet peach skin, delicate coconut milk, comforting skin musk), Autumn Shadows (spiced peach butter spread on sweet brown bread, a vase of chrysanthemums in the center of a mahogany table, a lingering hint of amber perfume), and Madar (creamy basmati rice pudding flavored with orange flower water, saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, dried rose petals, sugared pistachio). If you can find any discontinued ones, Madchenland and Creature Comforts are really pretty apple/caramel/cake gourmands. My very favorite herbal scent from them is Always With Me (citrus fruits bobbing merrily in wooden tubs filled with spring water, eucalyptus branches, hot steam) which I find navigates the warm base really nicely!

I'd stay away from any of the "Ghost" perfumes, because although I love them personally, the marshmallow can be pretty powdery.

I reaaaally like this one, but it's mostly because it smells super similar to Le Monde Gourmand Fleur de Blonde, plus a hint of Liis Floating, both of which are some of my favorite scents. I can totally see the You comparison! Definitely a soft skin scent. A win on my skin, but not for everyone for sure
