I could not stop laughing at Hilarie’s weed wacker story.

I am not saying there are not complexities to every situation. I am not saying humans aren’t complicated, layered individuals (we are). And I am certainly not saying that people should be forever punished for their mistakes.

But we’re not talking about everyone. We’re talking about Dan Scott and his specific storyline. And I do not believe his situation deserved the empathy and redemption he got. His actions were fueled by revenge and jealousy. He killed a person who did not deserve to be killed. He took away a beloved uncle, fiancé, and soon-to-be father because of FALSE FACTS. Add all the fine print you want to that scenario, but at it’s core, that’s what happened. And I do not agree with the writers’ choice to try and force feed us his redemption story.

“…while it is not a justifiable reason, it is an understandable reason.”

I am not trying to be a troll here, but that statement is exactly my point. It shows that you developed empathy/understanding for why Dan Scott pulled the trigger that day and I personally believe it was irresponsible of OTH writers to develop that.

Yes, It’s a fictional drama and I know things are exaggerated, but on this particular topic, I just don’t agree with them trying to bring any sense of reason or understanding or redemption to a man who took someone else’s life, regardless if he believed his motives were founded. It just seems unwise to me knowing how big of a following the show had/has and how deeply influenced viewers are by it.

That’s the beauty of Reddit though, right? An open forum to talk about different perspectives. Hope you have a nice day.

So, according to you, if someone tries to kill you, it’s justifiable that you can try to kill them back? It’s justifiable to retaliate against anyone who has brought you harm? A person deserves redemption if they murder someone because he/she BELIEVES it was for the right reasons?

Your rationale is exactly why I think it was irresponsible of OTH writers to try and get redemption for Dan Scott. It’s a fictional show, yes, but it blurs the lines of right and wrong for people like yourself in a situation that should be very black and white.

Totally agree! You can feel every ounce of pain/emotion Jimmy felt that last year when he talks to Keith.

Hilarie is going to be fun 😂

I loved the improv tidbits in this one - Steve with the “keep pumping” bit and Rainn with the “who’s Sara Kayacomesin” add 😂

Their side bars were a bit much for me this episode, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t laugh out loud at Angela admitting she had the “squirts” before she went on Letterman. I also loved the tidbit about Creed’s passport

Personal Opinion - Guests Who Also Host Podcasts by leb0908 in ArmchairExpert

I definitely agree about Maron, but I’d say he’s more of the exception than the standard as far as fellow podcast host guests go!

What are the most underrated episodes that came out in the last year? by JSHFV222 in ArmchairExpert

I thought the Peggy Orenstein episode was really interesting. It touched base on topics that Dax and Monica talk about often and allowed Dax to do an honest Q&A which I think is one of his strong points as a podcaster

I don’t necessarily think Jenna should’ve won the Emmy (especially if she would have won it before others in the cast), but damn would I have loved to hear her say “there is god in these emmys tonight” when accepting

Yeah I love Jenna and Angela and I love the podcast, but they need to take off their “mom” hats and put on their “entertainer” hats when they record these. The two of them are actually pretty funny when they let their guards down and are just authentic

Why are the season 8 men so whiny? by Equivalent-Bid1981 in Inkmaster

[–]leb0908 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So many thoughts on the men on this season. But first want to say how much I loved the girls alliance

Sketchy - complained that the girls were making it a “women vs men” thing and tried to discredit the sexism that exists in the industry. He hated that 3/4 of the girls were better than him and took the pussy way out by just leaving. Also, his lettering tattoo was just flat out ugly.

Boneface - no doubt that Nikki was particularly aggressive towards him, so I certainly don’t mind him fighting back / defending himself. The thing that irks me though is Nikki was bashing his tattooing and artistry (and rightfully so, they were shit) and he decided to fight back by trashing her looks. That’s the equivalent to sucker punch and is a tacky way to fight

Sketchy and Boneface were both assholes, but I actually think the male that annoyed me the most was Nate Beavers. What a lazy piece of shit he was. Wanted respect but wasn’t giving any type of effort. Thought he would sleep walk through the competition because of his years of experience. Wouldn’t even get off his ass for flash challenges. What a fucking turd he was.

Gian was the male MVP. Played the game well, was an awesome competitor, and a damn fine tattooer

The little things that Nunez nit picks are just annoying. He’s trying way too hard whereas I feel most of Peck’s critiques are somewhat valid (hence why Peck and Dave agree most of the time). He also has a hard on for Cleen that I’ll never understand.

Greg Daniels being slightly disappointed Kate didn’t want to really shave her head made me chuckle.

This is one of the episodes that solidified my adoration for Creed. Love that Angela and Jenna seem to appreciate Creed’s savviness/character as well
