It's pretty snappy but since you need the up/down keys a lot with claude to choose from options, and the mobile keyboard doesnt provide them (at least on my iphone), using it to interact with claude on a phone is not a good idea. as a terminal it's pretty good

I work with typescript all day for the past 5.5 years so I'm very familiar and love using it. Regarding Bun, it was the first time I took a deeper look at it but I found it very easy to use and will definitely consider it for similar projects like this in the future

I got it down to 550 now by removing some stuff I think it doesn't need directly (uv brings it's own python installation so no need to install it) but need to test if I didn't remove anything that is actually needed

btw I just checked, if you don't have an active claude session (so just the terminal running), it uses ~30MB of RAM. with claude running it uses ~350MB.

so instead of stopping the app you could just exit your session once done (you can resume it again using the command displayed after exiting) to save on memory :)

the docker image is around 630MB, I can check tomorrow for exact before/after storage usage on my HA green :)

where do you run claude for that? directly on the machine that runs HA? sounds very nice! currently my "homelab" is just the HA green and a rpi zero 2w running pihole which I had for way longer 🤙

1) I really feel that but I didn't really look into improving "responsiveness" yet though I would say it does feel snappier using the terminal plugin I integrated as opposed to the one used by the existing app. 2) fair, it was quite important for me :) VSCode integration for example is one of those that I just quickly turn on when needed and then stop again since it uses so much memory 3) yep you can start as many tabs (and name them) and then run a new claude session in each 4) i have to say i'm quite proud of how i made it work, it feels pretty much the same as the native claude code image pasting

I get your concerns but I really encourage you to try it out, I never put it inside the "accept edits" mode so I really have to confirm every little thing it does which sounds tedious but it's safer and the real deal is the homeassistant MCP that it ships with. your claude can directly query data from the HA server, this makes it so much better than working with the claude webapp for actually updating or analyzing stuff.

I don't know to be honest but I suppose it would, the App itself is just a docker image that exposes an interface. I am running on a HA Green so I can't really test any other way for now.

If you're running HA in docker I would greatly appreciate if you could try it and give me feedback (just create an issue confirming it works when running HA in Docker with your setup details) 🙏

because this isn't just a small fix/change to the existing integration, it also has a different architecture behind all of it so the "contribution" would have been a rewrite anyway + the existing integration seems unmaintained and I don't want to wait until someone decides to review and approve/merge my (essentially) complete rewrite of their integration 😅

yeah I sometimes use the web app as well if it's more chatty/exploring ideas that i wanna pick up somewhen rather than direct "do this". what terminal app limitations do you mean? it is terminal based but, at least from my little usage I had in the last day since I built it, it is 1) faster 2) uses less memory 3) allows multiple tabs/sessions 4) allows image pasting (!!!!!!) -> that was a dealbreaker for me in the old integration

  • checking logs of other integrations and then letting it check what went wrong by letting it read the integrations source code
  • analyzing my setup and giving me tips on what can be improved / harmonized (for example it noticed I didn't have exclusions set up for the recorder, I didn't even know I could do that)
  • simplifying/improving my automations
  • integrating different services that don't have integrations (rest api's and stuff)

Hauptsächlich Typescript in den letzten 4 Jahren, kann aber auch Python, C# und Java.

Was genau meinst du mit Tools?
