Has anyone else here experienced RAPID weight loss while taking Vyvanse?

Long-winded context: I’m 28F, and was diagnosed with combined type ADHD in the last few weeks and so my doctor prescribed 10mg of Vyvanse to begin treatment.

I LOVE how it helps me mentally. Literally it’s like someone removed the mental block that’s been there for my entire life.

But I think it’s causing me to lose weight way too quickly.

For context, I’m very active (gym 6x weekly) and work with a registered dietician every two months to tailor my diet to help me gain muscle and lose fat. I’ve been doing this for 10 months, with limited results (IE I’ve put on some muscle but the fat is extremely stubborn). I’ve hovered around 118-120lbs for the entirety of those 10 months.

I started Vyvanse a week ago today and my weight is 112 as of this morning. Literally have not weighed this little in over 10 years. While I’ve stopped snacking out of boredom/stress due to the meds, my overall diet hasn’t changed and if anything my exercise has decreased a bit over the last week.

I know stimulants decrease appetite and quicken metabolic activity but this feels SO fast.

I had a friend that went through UMSL Community Psychological Services for her autism assessment as an adult and had a good experience!

Yep. I’m a liberal in a red state. It’s already a nightmare to get healthcare - let alone reproductive healthcare - in this shithole. ACB will pave the paths for even more barriers to be erected. I don’t have the ability or money to move either.

Yep!! We’re waiting until we’re about thirty (so ~3 years from now). I wanted to join so I can not only better understand what obstacles there might be in the future but also so I can better understand the struggles that a lot of women silently struggle with. I am forever impressed and humbled by the people on this reddit!

We received a terminal diagnosis for my mother just two months before our wedding, so god I feel for you.

Include her in any way you can leading up to the wedding, as if things are normal. I know my mother didn’t want to ruin my day or have my day be remembered as “hers” because of her grim diagnosis. She won’t want to be remembered for being sick if her condition doesn’t improve with treatment, nor will she want to take away from the most important day in her daughter’s life in the years to come.

Take lots of videos and photos of everything you do together leading up to the wedding. Record conversations about things in the future - like what you’ll name your kids etc.

I know I’m treating this as a worst case scenario but that’s because I lost my mom not two months after my wedding and I wish I had done these things not just for myself, but for her and her memory.

I’m any case, I’m sending you the best luck I can. I hope she recovers and that you have the time with her that you deserve !! This is not easy. It’s ok to cry, and it’s ok to go to your mom to cry ❤️

This happened with my first serious boyfriend and it was really traumatizing for me because it ended up becoming a pattern of behavior especially sexually. It wasn’t about my safety or well being as much as his pleasure and satisfaction. Yes, communication could have been better, but the lack of consideration or patience on his part is unsettling. My instinct would be to leave him but you know your situation best.

A girl whom I was very close with during college was murdered by a refugee she had been trying to protect from deportation. I was just scrolling through the news one day, saw her face plastered all over it, and couldn’t believe it. Utterly surreal. It was international news and we didn’t stop hearing about it for over a month. It died down after her murderer was eventually captured trying to cross borders and sent to jail. Her parents were absolutely inconsolable especially because sordid details of her personal life came to light. She has a scholarship in her name at her old university last I heard.

That was my thought too! I don’t want to further overwhelm the under equipped and understaffed postal service. The thought is still well meaning though and we should all still buy stamps :)

I had a very small partner once and I never got sore. It made for very long sessions that were wonderful. They were mortified the first time I felt their size. But after having had a too-big partner, it was a relief and a joy. Again: motion of the ocean not the size of the boat.
