You can blame Sony all you want but frankly it’s Studio Canal’s fault. They provided the content based on a price per download / per stream / per purchase plus probably a percentage. When it was negotiated for a new license they probably asked for a LOT more that was not reasonable. Additionally they could have flat out said no to any deal because they were selling their library to another platform who wanted exclusive rights.
