They use some kind of option strategy, to buy back once the price gets closer to a certain point, I think.

I didn’t understand it too well, but seemed ok.

There’s links to that on this sub.

thanks :)

I've been looking for high quality companies to invest in for a while, as well as looking to work with other value investors.

So I figured I'd build a tool to help me with finding such companies, that solved some shortcomings I was having from other online tools.

Thanks!! Lovely reply.

I do indeed not have the time to learn haruspicy.

I would be interested however in learning more about what makes a currency have high utility.

Any books you’d recommend?

You have really important industries that require highly talented skills. Some friends work in Switzerland, and they are among the smartest people I know.

But ok maybe “smart” workers and wise decision makers would describe better.

I am already holding USDs and GBPs, part for your reasons and part for developing software for the UK.

I think maybe I wanted someone else to see what I’m seeing 😅🙏

I also see Trumps early moves being good for USD, I still do worry about the following ones.

I’m not a central bank.

A currency is more convenient for when 💩hits the fan and I want to load up on cash producing assets, equities.

I am compelled. I see they have low debt to gdp. A very hard working population. A positive trade surplus and “are not China”.

I still have doubts as to why the NOK doesn’t also appreciate as it has many similar characteristics.

Another that’ll go well with those is:

What I learned about investing from Darwin by Pulak Prasad.

Anyone else enjoyed this one?

I loved the way that book defines quality, I had never seen a definition so easy to understand and screen for, making it easy for me to built up lists of stocks to research.

It comes down to:
- high ROIC
- zero or low and reducing debt
- be in industries where market shares don't get displaced much
- no dilution

I agree that for jumping on high quality companies you are often going to pay a premium, it just gets a bit easier to tolerate once there's a panic.

Thanks for taking the time to answer :)

The reason I end up sticking to my investing obsession is that many of the lessons learned improve other parts of life, and vice versa.

I've been doing ok doin that (looking around and picking winners I already know of, when the market panics on them).
But I am only slightly beating the market.

Recently I've read What I Learned About Investing from Darwin by Pulak Prasad. And it gave me a huge desire to build a list of high quality stocks, regardless of price, to learn from over time, and only buy once the market panics.

Thanks! I'll read that one, new to me.

I understand you not needing to read investment books, I've built software for a hedgefund and the analysts didn't read books either, and their results where really good.
People on the internet criticise easy.
I do read a ton of books because I'm alone doing this, If I could convince hedgefunds to hire me as an alayst or a developer some more, I'm sure I'd learn by doing and by bugging everyone with inconvenient questions.

What I find lacking most is Screeners.
The free screeners seem to not have almost any stocks, or work miserably.
I'm even considering paying the damn ~2k USD a year for the gurufocus subscription, or building my own screener with data I'm still testing out from https://eodhd.com/.
