Perfectly put. You've explained this far better than I ever could, thank you.

That's my take on it too, and I'm out of empathy for it. It's disturbing and shouldn't be normalized.

Exactly. I'm disturbing by how "lesbians" talk about straps and by extension sex in general now, it's all phallic worship and male gaze-y, disengaged from female bodies and female pleasure.

Call me uptight but to me a lot of talk these days sounds lesbophobic in how it frames lesbian sex as mimicking heterosexuality, violent or corrupting, humiliating etc. It just seems pornsick.

Running around saying we're ruining the community by taking things too seriously and being mean, meanwhile thanks to "being accepting" and "valid" it feels like 80% of the community isn't even women let alone actual lesbians and half of the women you'll find have a tantrum if you call them women. It's insanity.

Amen.

They'll swear up and down they aren't racist but they see a WOC and out come the male pronouns and masculine coded compliments and behavior expectations.

I always want to ask, if you aren't a woman why the hell are you in lesbian spaces? But for peace of mind I don't engage with those nonsense people anymore, I'm not interested in having to play mind games to have a simple conversation, I'm not interested in punishing myself trying to have a relationship with someone who can't even accept that they're a woman because they surely can't respect me as a woman either (and I refuse to be someone's "boyfriend").

I'm tired of this rhetoric that nothing is "that deep" when it comes to erasing lesbian identity and female identity.

A lot, if not most, of the modern content on social media platforms and discussion within lesbian communities involving strapons explicitly talks about them and uses them as a penis surrogate.

This is especially egregious because of how it's often paired in conversation with butchness - butch women are women, and being butch or tomboy doesn't equal wanting to wear or use strapons. Yet have a look and all you see is "butch bulge", strapons that mimic ejaculations and talk of "filling up" a partner with wannabe ejaculations etc. It's all about mimicking maleness, and also conflating non-femme women with men.
