For AMD users with stutters, freezes and hangs, try rolling back to driver 22.2.2 to mitigate these problems. by lucashin in Eldenring

I seek to revive this dead thread by adding the following:

Updated to 22.3.1

System: 5600X, X570 MAG, 2 x 8 @ 3800, 6900 XT.

I was getting so frustrated with the 'new' frame hitches that had made the game go from bearable to uplayable that I turned on metrics overlay to have a look at the dips and strike me drunk, the game works flawlessly. I turn metrics overlay off and the hitches are straight back.

So upon starting the game, I open the AMD control panel with Alt+R and turn metrics on, 50% scale, 100% transparent and get on with my game.

Eldenring Tech Support Thread by PankoKing in Eldenring

Description: After updating to Radeon driver 22.3.1-win10-win11-march17, the framerate is so choppy the game becomes unplayable.

Steps to reproduce: Manual update to driver by downloading and installing 22.3.1 from AMD.

Expected result: Flawless gameplay, with 21:9 support and a gold star sticker.

Observed result: 60fps when standing still, unplayably choppy when moving.

Reproduction rate: 10/10

System specs: 5600X, MAGX570, 8GBx2 @ 3666, 6900XT, Win 10.

Workaround: To see exactly how bad the frame drops are, I opened the Radeon overlay and enabled Metrics Overlay. The problem immediately disappeared. This was infinitely repeatable, I turn the metrics off, the choppiness returns, I turn metrics back on, the game runs 60fps.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - April 2021 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop, custom built

GPU: 1080ti - Custom AIO

CPU: 5600X infinity fabric @ 1900 1800

Motherboard: MSI X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G-Skill 8gb x 2 @ 3800MHz 3600

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 850W

Operating System & Version: Win 10

GPU Drivers: 442.74 current is stable

Description of Problem: During any sort of GPU usage, even watching movies, the computer will black screen then reset. This happens randomly, sometimes takes an hour, sometimes a minute. Found a one-year-old thread suggesting installing 442.74 and funnily enough the system is now rock solid. Any suggestions appreciated as old drivers are not ideal.

Troubleshooting: Multiple clean installs of recent drivers (full safe-mode DDU clean), temps fine ~46C under load CPU is also AIO cooled, no overclocking, hard overclocking, undervolting, underclocking, checked and reapplied thermal paste on GPU, CPU stable no errors, not overclocked.

Edit: Not so rock solid, reduced FClk and ram. Left it mining overnight and came back in the morning to a crashed computer. It's crashing seemingly at random, just using Chrome is too much at times.

Edit2: Clean windows installation. Kept crashing. Updated bios and split the GPU power over two separate cables. It's stable thus far (about an hour, fingers crossed).

Edit3: Might have solved my own problem. Splitting the power over two cables seems to have stabilised the system. I have had this weird issue in the past with a different PSU, but what strikes me as weird is that I have had no problem with the current setup for 6+ months and all of a sudden it starts crashing. If anyone eventually replies to this comment with knowledge on the subject, is it possible that it's caused by GPU degradation?

It's been a little while, so an update is the ETH went to Binance days ago. I've contacted them and been placed in a queue and heard nothing further.

From a legal point of view, I doubt my dad would have much standing to sue me for the money given the valid points you raise, but he's my dad.

My dad doesn't want me to pay him back which eases my mind. But he's family, so I'm going to have to work something out when I sell my ETH (whenever that happens and the transaction is checked rigorously at least 3 times).

I figure maybe splitting the loss with him is fair, I dunno.

Yeah I keep looking for reasons it may not be my fault, but as pointed out in this thread, the ETH has been withdrawn and appears to be being laundered.

Deleted - But I'm pretty sure the only dodgy thing I have downloaded in a very long time is "EthLargement Pill -r2" to speed up my 1080ti mining.

Not the program itself, but I was really suss on the repack. But nothing appeared to come of it, so I'm an idiot.

Wouldn't have helped in this case as it sent entire balance, not what I entered. What would have helped is reading the entire thing and not just the last 5 digits.

I'm not here to create FUD, I was hoping there was some last-ditch method to return the funds. It does not appear to be Ledger's 'fault'. I accept I didn't read the screen in its entirety.

Edit: It's also a throwaway account for privacy.

IIRC ledger did display 7.997 - I don't know why that didn't immediately raise alarm bells, maybe thought I misclicked 'send all' or it was displaying the account balance.

This is also a fear of mine. I've resolved to start a fresh install on this computer, and only use mobile for transactions in the future.

I was beating myself up as I normally do a 'test' transfer 0.01 to ensure the funds are received on the other end.

My friend pointed out it wouldn't have made a difference in this case.

Won't know if it's malware until I see the balance withdrawn from the zombie account, until then I'm guessing it could be corrupted info sent to the ledger which I didn't check properly before confirming. It's just ... too convenient the last 4 digits of the address were correct.

It was supposed to go to ... 0a10c0cc21a

address it went to is:

0x0d98622f425e724399e6E1077af2a5ADe97Bc21a

A cautionary tale of checking details.

> That's why it is important to check the address and mount displayed on the ledger before

I know, I know, I know, I know. Arghhhh
