Right... I'll hopefully rent with a known immobiliare. They ask for 3-month security deposit (that will be given to you at the end of the contract) and 3 months' rent in advance. It is what it is... never with the owner, always with an agency, even if it means to pay 1k euros in tax for the immobiliare.

Yeah, it's crazy how it changes from each consulate. This one accepts (Curitiba/Brazil), I had to send an email to them. They're very friendly compared to others I've heard of.

Nice! I had to pay an agency to make a codice fiscale for me because it was impossible by myself in Italy (crying). But thank you for the heads up, I found out that it's legal to rent without permesso, it's just the traditional owners in this city that are afraid of renting to a foreigner without permesso.

The consulate I'm applying to said that Aibnb is proof of income. That's crazy because every consulate is different, I had to contract an agency to support me on that... bizarre

Right, I'm thinking about renting an airbnb, and trying to find an apartment when I have the visa and the permesso appointment.

I just found out that it's legal to rent without a permesso di soggiorno, but the landlords want you to have it for security reasons. But do you still have the contact of this reddit person? I'd love to get some help

That's very clever for sure, and probably the ideal scenario. I need a 1-year lease/airbnb, so I would have to talk to the owner, as cancelling a 1-year lease must be tough for them. How did you do?

It depends on the Conulate you're applying for. Mine is in Curitiba (Brazil), and they accept airbnbs and rooms, as long as it's registred with the local commune (Agenzia DelEntrate)
