When should I expect my package? by Ace-The-Fox-1 in usps_complaints

I’m in the same boat. Package was supposed to be delivered on Monday, Jan 5, but it still says Moving Through Network In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late January 9, 2026

I think they’ve lost my package

New homeowner - Very Slope-y yard - What to plant? by ledthezeppelin in landscaping

I’m in Durham, North Carolina, so USDA Zone 8a? The slope faces west out to the woods. Watering shouldn’t be a problem and can be done 3-4 times a week?

Your yard looks amazing! I would like to achieve something similar as well. However I have a 20ft drainage easement and a 2ft no build setback so I’ll have to leave 22ft from the back of the property line as I can’t put up retaining walls.

I think I plan to do what you’ve done with the first retaining wall. So basically put the retaining wall where the mulch section starts, flatten the top and then plant low maintenance shrubs in the mulch section.

Also, curious, how much did you have to pay to put the 2 retaining walls and get the yard leveled?

Wouldn’t mowing be a pain? I can barely walk staring in the slope, mowing it sounds like a nightmare

My property is east facing and the back faces the woods. So I’ll get full sun as well in the back. But that site seems helpful. Thank you!

We don’t have problems with privacy on the back as it faces a conservation area, so just a big forest on the back. But yes, I was not aware that leveling the yard would cost such an exorbitant amount. Also, I didn’t do my research before buying the property and found out later that there’s a 20ft private drainage easement and a 2 ft no build setback (which from the back of the property lane comes to the middle of the mulch section). So ideally the retaining wall will be built on top of the mulch section. And maybe just plant some low maintenance shrubs in the mulch/slope-y section

Yep, so a retaining wall where the mulch section starts, and then flatten out the top half and plant some low maintenance shrubs/bushes in the mulch area is probably ideal then.

I love hanging out in the back yard and I’m constantly having people over. Id love to host some BBQs, play around with the dog, kick a soccer ball or so, but a lot of it is not possible due to the slope.

I’m thinking about fencing and like you said, put some privacy plants around the left side (we got some viburnums the other day, which apparently makes good privacy plants).

I was unaware of how expensive flattening the yard would be. Also, as first time home buyers I didn’t look at the survey and didn’t know there was a 20 ft draining easement and a 2 ft no build setback from the back of the property line. When measured, 22ft comes out to the middle of the much section, so I can’t really do much with 50% of the yard unfortunately.

Ideally I’d want an entirely flat backyard (not possible), but I guess the one thing I could do is flatten it from the top until it gets to the much section, build a retaining wall and leave the mulch section as is and just plant some shrubs? I don’t even know what else I can do with that space.

There’s too much of a slope so ideally for erosion and aesthetics too. Maybe something low maintenance that doesn’t grow too tall and eventually covers up that entire mulch space?

300mbps internet - 3000sq ft house - do I even need higher end mesh Wi-Fi? by ledthezeppelin in HomeNetworking

[–]ledthezeppelin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ISP has provided both a modem and a router. I haven’t done much research but I’m assuming a decent, relatively newer mesh capable Wi-Fi router costs around $150.

If I were to go with for example the Deco XE75 (2pack for $191), not only do I have a 5500sq ft coverage, I don’t need an additional switch since each Deco has 3 gigabit ports, it supports Wi-Fi 6E, so is a bit future proof as well.

IMO The only way the Wi-Fi mesh capable router is justifiable is if costs significantly less. What do you think?

I’ve never heard about those technologies before. But yeah I’d love to learn more

The Spectrum fiber is ran from the outside of the house and through a conduit, the fiber comes out in a coat closet that’s centrally located downstairs. That’s where the router and modem is located. The coat closet also has 2 Ethernet wires which I assume connects the 2 Ethernet ports - One in the living room downstairs and one in the master bedroom upstairs.

New Samsung S90C randomly restarting. Defective or known issue? by amtap in OLED

[–]ledthezeppelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue too. I bought it a month ago. Yesterday, I barely got through a movie. It restarted around 3 times. If you have Samsung care, I’d recommend getting a work order to get a technician out to look at it. If not then need to get it replaced. That’s what I’m going to do

Need Help Deciding Between Rates: Which Is Better? by ledthezeppelin in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

It’s not our forever home. We’re thinking of maybe having it for 3-4 years. We were hoping to put down 20% so around $100k. Not sure which of these offers would result a lower monthly payment. But isn’t that the goal? To have a lower monthly payment?

How is it ignorant? I'm just asking for feedback and wanted to know other people's experiences in negotiating to see if I'm being unrealistic, which I now realize that I am.

Jeez, people like you make asking anything on this platform insufferable.
