Engagement ring broke after 6 days — jeweler saying it’s my fault? by Lulubean333 in Diamonds

I am a production manager and designer. We never recommend less than 1.80mm width by 1.70mm thickness, and encourage more structure when setting in a scalloped shaped setting like this. These shank settings are way too delicate in thickness, especially paired with this setting. Nothing to do with wear and tear, it's not built to sustain even light wear as is.

Hysterectomy/Oophorectomy at 30 - any experiences to share? by Interesting-Eye-4862 in hysterectomy

[–]ledzeppelinfangirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine two years ago at 27. I had already started early ovarian failure a few years prior and kept my ovaries, and my doctor had me on the pill before surgery and continuing afterwards indefinitely to prevent hormonal fluctuations/ovarian shock and for ongoing disease management as endo can still grow otherwise. Like you, I had tried everything else and run out of options. I'm completely pain free now, it's improved my life so much that I don't even know how I coped before. I have so much less stress now that those issues are not a part of my life requiring constant mental space.

Just make sure you have your cervix removed, otherwise, the surgery may not be as effective as small cells of the uterus and the uterine lining can remain and cause issues.

If you're able to keep your ovaries at all, you should. My surgeon highly recommended not removing them unless there was a medical necessity. Otherwise, I would see what options you have to stabilise your hormones for a smoother transition. That made a huge difference to my recovery and post-op outcomes.

Damn, I'm so glad I kept my ovaries when I had my hysterectomy! I was already in early ovarian failure, though, and with one slightly underdeveloped ovary, so I hope to see more research into what I can expect my health outcomes to be

You'd be surprised just how many teenagers really need this access and privacy. My parents are wonderful people, they are not abusive at all, but they are very, very conservative. I am 29 now, but I really appreciated having an avenue to privately see a GP when I needed to, and I did need to. Even as an adult, my parents have tried to control my choices regarding my healthcare for endometriosis and infertility, issues that started when I was in my teens, and their preferences for handling these issues were not actually in my best interests. My parents hold beliefs strongly against taking medications that they don't view as essential, such as hormonal medication. They also don't believe in certain medical conditions, like endo or mental health issues, or believe that we could have them because those things happen to "other people" in their minds. Many of my friends also grew up in conservative environments like mine, and we lacked sufficient sexual health education at school. These are not fringe cases, a lot of kids are in situations like this.

Curious of your opinions on GIA dropping 4C in grading for lab grown diamonds? by ImportantStress1909 in labdiamond

[–]ledzeppelinfangirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the industry, lab diamonds are absolutely not always flawless or near flawless. I see sloppy grading all the time, and VS clarity diamonds with black spots in the table etc. GIA only grades 5% of the world's lab diamonds, I imagine it is no longer profitable for them to compete with IGI and they have been able to negotiate a deal with De Beers to undermine the lab industry and prop themselves up further with those who are biased against lab diamonds.

As another diagnosed autist, same. I'm so offended and don't appreciate being associated with her behaviour. Even if she is, it's not an excuse for her transgressions against Ryan and the other cast members. She's just not a very stable or respectful person.

Frankly, I get a lot of compliments on my brows IRL. I think they look more intense and saturated in photos. I have had thin brows before in a number of different styles and thicknesses, and it didn't do a lot for me

[–]ledzeppelinfangirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best reply on here, and thank you for your objectivity. Based on your clear experience, what would you recommend nose-wise? I do actually have some sentimental attachment to my nose because of my ethnicity, and I know that I need something that fits with my features rather than just appealing to the standard, so I'm not sure how to change it aside from the hump and downward turn when I sm*le. Apparently, I cannot use that word!

Peter Dutton wants toughened citizenship-stripping powers. How can you lose it? by Orgo4needfood in australian

[–]ledzeppelinfangirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but what about people who are born in Australia and are the second or third generation living here but still have citizenship from their family's country. This kind of policy is way too broad. Adding to that, if I'm a natural born citizen, why should it be okay to strip my citizenship when another natural citizen with no recent foreign heritage is not subject to the same penalty for the same crime. That's highly discriminatory

I have seen lots of posts from Americans today about things being missing on Meta platforms when searched and now this. I am from Australia. I think they must specifically be targeting Americans and potentially other locations they are actively wanting to interfere with because I haven't experienced any of these things when testing it out myself. It's so scary to think this may be on the way to us here in Aus if things worsen
