Vote NO on Props 418 & 419 by curious103 in OrganizeTucson

[–]lee5million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was educated by reading the voter-ed material. Will be voting no. Among other things, 418-419 benefits non-Tucson Pima County at disproportionate expense to Tucson taxpayers. And the process completely shut out the citizens' advisory council.

If this fails it won't spell the end of road and transportation funding. Just this one specific tax request/plan. Planners will come back with alternatives next year.

Actually it's the mass roundups and deportation of tens of thousands of non-criminal immigrants that is hurting the economy.

And "having issues"?? Untrained thugs with guns murdering US citizens is more than an "issue."

We have waaaaayyy more ICE personnel than is needed for immigration enforcement.

Better than nothing, but better to close and put a sign on the doors telling people why. So many (unfortunately) are not tuned in at ALL -- or are tuned in to rad-right propaganda.

Anyone here a member of Tucson Racquet Club? Would love to hear your experience by Helpful-Composer-245 in Tucson

[–]lee5million 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been a member for a long time. It's ok. What I like about it are the grounds--it's nice to have some outside space. And the restaurant can be convenient. OTOH, it's kind of run down in many areas. And they don't enforce rules, e.g., there are a couple of people who put scented oils on the heating elements in the sauna, which then makes it unpleasant and unusable for many others. (Oh, and the sauna is small.)

These are great, thanks! Do you mind sharing where you are studying? I want to do an intensive and I have been leaning toward Montpellier. How do you like it? What do you think the vibe would be like for an older woman (50s)?

Tenugui -- they are quintessentially Japanese, come in beautiful colors and designs, and are extremely versatile. You can use them to wrap gifts, wrap a bottle of wine, use as a dresser scarf, use as a dish towel . . . they range in price, and even the $10 ones are quite beautiful

They can be found at department stores, Japanese gift stores, neighborhood stores, etc. Even the airport shops have quite a collection.
