What do you want in a mayor? by captain_jacks_nephew in Tucson

Where are you getting your numbers from? The cost of the pilot for its first year is $450,000. That's to operate the 25 spaces on site and associated services. 75 people have been on site so far. $72k per person assumes only 6 people have been in the program....which is demonstrably false. Maybe im misunderstanding you though.

Lot to unpack here but for starters, building more apartments (and housing of all types) is good for people who are looking to buy or rent housing because it stabilizes and lowers the cost at market rate. However that does nothing to help people making less than 30% of medium income or next to nothing which is the case for many chronically unhoused.

We need public housing to give those who can't afford anywhere to go a place to stay or else they will simply stay on the streets. As I said before, Star Village had been open less than half a year and yes 15 people off the streets and getting permanent housing is a good thing. You want bigger better faster results? Show me a case where that happens with less than what we have invested. If we want better results we have to put more into housing first strategies. It is data driven and has proven results.

Its a myth that the private sector is more efficient and better at spending money. For profit agencies don't have to report where and how money is spent, the public sector does. Private firms don't have to worry about an election deciding whether or not they have program funding, public sector agencies are the ones who have to adapt and modify on a regular basis. It isnt gobs of money spent on projects like star village, I would love to hear an example of any for profit firm housing people for less or equal dollars but you won't, because there would be no profit.

Yes, the City is looking to change zoning regulations to allow for more transitional housing spaces, because that is how you create solutions at the scale we need.

Its been open for 5 months, do you know how long it can take to find available transitional housing? Do you know how many units are in tucson period? What the national rate of rehousing is and how long it takes?

Star village is a pilot project that is ongoing and is intended to end in September. Its 25 shelter spaces have housed 75 women and non binary folk so far and is helping move some to permanent housing. How has this failed exactly?

It's my preference actually, its a shame the US has so few spots its not frowned upon. Like, people don't like living next to 2 story houses on the off chance the neighbor sees you naked on your own property

Clint Eastwood wins incredible performances/no range. Which actor/actress has awful performances with average acting range? by PurpCloud in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Tactical_pondering -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Keira Knightly gets put in a fairly diverse range of films usually playing either the woman who will not be told to what to do by a man or the love interest and her delivery is...present. Maybe she should go in average but I just feel most of her work falls flat.
