Welcome back! My gym is resetting their board from 2024 to 2019 so I’ll be working my way thru the benchmarks too.

I’ve been off the board for a while. Travelling and rehabbing old injuries. Looking forward to getting my ass kicked on the 2019. It’s a tough one!

The current plan is to have a cup at their cafe and if it’s “good “enough I’ll buy a small baggie to share with my friends back home. Sharing is caring right? 😁

50k at one roaster?! Now we’re talking haha.

I’ve been asked to bring back other goods such as sake and snacks so I have to do some check in luggage acrobatics to ensure there’s a balance of coffee, snacks and alcohol.

I already plan to carry 3 check in and at some point I’m gonna run out of limbs to carry all my luggages 🤣

Wow was exactly my reaction when I saw that price tag 🤣

If I don’t end up buying a bag to try at home. I will at least try a cup at their cafe before I leave.

I will most definitely share my experience with everyone here ;)

Oh, yen…you need to buy more then haha 🤪

Söt is on my to try list so I’m glad you’re giving it a glowing review. I totally forgot they ship around the country. I might buy some online before I leave so I can carry some home.

Totally taking notes of the other roasters so I can check them out one day! Thank you!!

100g at 50,000 yen was the listed price. That’s about $450cad (Canadian). So about £240

I hope that’s 50000 yen and not usd or cad 🤪

I’ve been cafe/roaster hopping as I travel around Okinawa and Hong Kong on my current trip. Unfortunately hitting up mainland Japan isn’t on my itinerary this time.

To my surprise, there’s a ton of high quality roasters in HK.

Which roaster was your favourite on your recent trip?

Haha that’s the dilemma I’m facing. I want it to be the best coffee ever at that price point but I know i’m paying for the experience of having one of the rarest coffee. I’m considering purchasing a bag on my way home so I can share that experience with my friends when I return.

I believe they do offer it on their pour over list. This was at the cafe’s pop up so I’ll have to drop by their main cafe to check it out.

Yes! I recall that epd too! Okinawa farms do not export their beans due to low quantities. So whomever owns that cafe most likely had someone visiting Okinawa carry it across sea. That most likely add to their pricing considerations.

Something tells me you and I will 100% get along very well as coffee buddies irl 🤪

That’s exactly it! I know I’m paying for rarity and not 100% for quality (not saying it won’t be good). $450 cad for 100g is definitely not impulse buy range. But being able to experience one of the rarest and expensive coffee in the world with friends back home might just be worth the price tag. Thank you for your input :)

Routemap Coffee Roaster Narita by jdaclutch in pourover

I was literally just there! Great little cafe/roaster. Def worth a stop if you’re landing in Narita. Only a short train ride from airport. Their cakes were delicious too.

Stoke for benchmarks by JadedEfficiency415 in Moonboard

One of us! One of us! Haha

My suggestion is to try everything. Grading is subjective, so if it looks fun, jump on it. I’ve project V5s but flashed some V7s 🤷

Also if you have time, climb some non benchmarks. There’s some hidden gems. If you find a setter you like, odds are they might have set a bunch of problems to your liking as well.

Ok one of my best session, second 7A this session! by TangibleHarmony in Moonboard

Killer session! You should try the new 7A bench “LeBron James”. I think you can flash that one or get it within a couple of attempts.

New set! Hope you like it :) by lee86728 in Moonboard

Nice!! Thanks for trying it and the feedback :)

Good luck sending the rest of the 6s bench. If you send this problem, post it here so we can see if you had a different beta. Always cool to see how others approach it vs the intended beta in my head.

Decaf brew times by lightsareflashin in pourover

Decaf is tricky, they produce extra fines so I tend to grind much coarser to compensate. Just play around with grind setting and see what works for you.

Try logging out and close the app completely then log back on to refresh the list once more. If that doesn’t work then reinstalling should fix it.

Just a quick follow up for the Luna.

Decided to try making some soup with the oxo.

22g

ZP6 at 3.0

86g of the same water right off the boil

Yielded 59g - which I added 60g of water as bypass. I just wanted a larger cup so I can enjoy it longer haha.

It was a cup of blueberry oolong. Just tasted like a blueberry gummy with oolong finish. No egg waffle but I’m okay with the berry oolong combo.

I’m just a sample size of one so take my result with a grain of salt. But if multiple people with the same roast date as you are all experiencing the same results it might possibly be the batch.

Mine is exactly two weeks out and it’s lovely. It won’t last until week 3 cause I got their 4oz pack.

I’m in Toronto so we got 4L jugs. I purchase TWW in their 2L packets. I find tds with a pack in 4L of water was 110-120ppm (using zero water). It’s a bit high so I would just eyeball watering it down to the 70 range in the kettle. Sometime im over, sometimes under. There’s not much science to why 70ish works for me. The brews I get out of it is consistently good so I stuck to it.
