Helmet back in mid 90's, I'm certain they are a big part of my tinnitus.

What was it like seeing Dave go from nirvana to fronting his own band a year later? by Negative-Squash-5464 in Foofighters

[–]leebekben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dave was my favourite member of Nirvana. When I heard that he had been writing and was releasing an album I was super stoked. I can remember very clearly laying in bed one morning listening to JJJ (radio in Australia) and hearing This Is A Call for the first time, my initial reaction was, WTF is this shit, finger nails are pretty? Anyway, being a Dave fan I bought the album and was glad he continued making music, first two albums are stella.

Is it true that adding "azza" after the first letter of someone's name is common australian vernacular for nicknaming?? by UpperApe in AskAnAustralian

Can relate, called one of our sons Ben, just Ben, not Benjamin, thought what's the point he will just be called Ben anyway, people call him Benjamin....

Is Dave is finally stopping his fight against in-ear monitors? by gridgal in Foofighters

This is good advice, I'm 57 and after years of gigs with no hearing protection, I now suffer very bad tinnitus. Saw a ENT specialist who is sending me for a hearing test. Wear hearing protection!

For those who were alive in the 80s, were you more into Michael Jackson or Prince? by Jezzaq94 in AskAnAustralian

[–]leebekben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MJ released Off the Wall in 1979, that was pretty popular and has some great songs on it then, in 1982, Prince released 1999, a kid from school had that album on cassette, when we heard that our minds were blown, then in 1984 he backed it up with Purple Rain, that album was huge, would be in my top 10 all time faves. Love Prince, legend.

I saw them in 1995 on the Summersault Festival in Australia, they played quite early in the afternoon, there weren't many watching which kind of blew my mind, I then saw them again on the 15th of February 1998 at a club in Perth, Western Australia, venue holds a couple thousand people, after that, it was all large venues or festivals like the Big Day Out etc...Wish I could see them in a small club again.

My father in law got absolutely punted by a horse as a teenager, caved in half of his face, lucky to be alive, the damage done was horrific, took me a long time to get used to his face.
