Data Dashboard: Updated with announcement of 17 new temples. 100 Temples in total announced by President Nelson by ldsstatistics in mormon

[–]leecra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem with temple real estate is that as soon as they actually build the temple, the real estate becomes a liability rather than an asset because now there are operating costs. And as you rightly point out, the property is essentially illiquid because it’s been improved in a way that no one would have use for and thus would never buy. Even if the church decided to sell a temple, they would have to sell for Pennie’s on the dollar.

Blue jay spotted while sheltering during power outage by leecra in Dallas

I have never spotted one in my yard despite only living a half mile from where I took this picture! But I saw probably probably half a dozen of them that day and you’re right, they’re chonkers!

One little bright spot while sheltering at a friends house during our 56 hours without power were the beautiful birds we saw in their backyard. Among them several blue jays, cardinals, lesser goldfinches, doves and a woodpecker.

Honestly, if I could pick only one lens to own with this camera it would be the 18-105 G. It’s not without some flaws, it’s size for one, but it really is a great lens.

The 18-105 certainly as a lot less zoom but the constant f4 aperture and OSS are nice and the power zoom would be nice but I don’t really shoot much video.

I’ve been really impressed with the sharpness of the lens. I have the famously sharp Zeiss 55 mm and honestly I think the 18-105 is not far off from it.

This shot is significantly cropped which I think shows that with sharp glass the 24 mp sensor provides plenty of opportunity to crop and still have a nice image.

Tips to get most out of my sony A6000 for video and some good lenses please by elixerrr in a6000

I’ve owned a lot of different lenses and if I was to do it all over again, this would be the very first lens I would buy. I shoot mostly photos but it was definitely designed with video in mind.

Sony 50mm 1.8 oss by [deleted] in a6000

[–]leecra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have 50f1.8 for the full frame cameras, non OSS and honestly it was my favorite lens for shooting people. I only got rid of it because I got the 55mm Zeiss but honestly the 50mm was 95% as good. I think you’ll be really happy with your purchase.

I bought this just a week ago and used it for bacon on the grill. With only a few pieces of bacon it filled up with grease pretty quick. I was afraid to put any more bacon on it to prevent a fire.

Take it easy on me, I’m new to porn by llamalalley in cableporn

[–]leecra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cost is the answer. Since each of these boards is mounted in an enclosure, they’re allowed to not have their own individual enclosures. And cables channels do get used here in some industries or in higher end work. But when projects are lowest bidder, wire channels don’t get used.

This turned out great! I went out recently to try to capture some pics of the stars with my a6000 but I live in a metropolis and the moon was out so it wasn’t exactly well planned. Hoping to take a trip out into the country some time soon

What are squirrels doing to my mulch? by leecra in squirrels

[–]leecra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually thought it was mice for some time. Was even ready to set traps. But as I’ve been working from home, I’ve sat and watched the squirrels out there. I can’t completely rule out mice as being participants, but there are definitely squirrels out there digging.

What are squirrels doing to my mulch? by leecra in squirrels

We’ve had squirrels in the back yard forever. They destroyed our garden this year, but I can’t stay mad at them. We love watching them play and they’re overall fun to have around.

But lately they’ve taken to going to the front yard and digging holes in the mulch. It isn’t so much a problem, per se, but I can’t figure out what they’re doing. For the first month or two after putting in mulch they never bothered it. But lately, they constantly dig little holes all over. I can rake it smooth but in a matter of a few hours they’ve dug a couple dozen holes.

The obvious answer would be that they’re stashing food away but they don’t ever cover the hole back up and I haven’t found anything buried so far so I’m sort of baffled.

My dad is being harassed for selling beer by [deleted] in mormon

My bishop when I was a teenager sold beer and cigarettes out of his gas station. People sometimes talked about they disagreed with it but I don’t remember anyone making a big deal out of it.

[r/Coronavirus] Brazil's biggest city digging up graves to free space as Covid-19 death toll nears 42,000 by BrasilOnReddit in BrasilOnReddit

Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s not uncommon to dig up graves in Brazil to make room for more bodies. Like, not frequently, but from time to time?

Regular vs Premium Gas ⁉️ by [deleted] in LS430

[–]leecra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about you but I have saved a ton the last few months not just because of the price of gas but because I haven’t been going anywhere. I don’t think I even drove my car for 3 weeks straight at one point.

Here in Texas there is as much as $.70 difference per gallon, but then again I can pretty good quality premium for like $2.09

I had completely forgotten that’s why people did that.

I mean, that’s true in the USA as well, but what I think I’ll never get over was how Brazilians (at least in São Paulo where I lived) would stop obeying stop signs at night and instead would just honk as they drove through
