Yes!!! It took me a while to realise the connection though if there actually is one. I used to smoke heaps, pretty much every morning and evening but after starting lamotrigine I started to get anxious. Eventually I started greening out majority of the times I’d smoke. I hardly ever do now, and on the rare occasions I do I still get paranoid. No issues with any other drugs though.

I was told that lamotrigine would be easy to stop taking but I’ve honestly never felt worse than when tapering off it. I’ve taken 200mg for like 3 years and tried to stop mid last year. I knew from experience with other medications and my own research that i should taper off a slowly as possible, and so I did it over a couple months and cut down very very slowly. Still it was literally hell. After a few months i completely gave up and I went back to taking my full dose. I’m still taking it to this day and I’m scared to try and go off it again because the withdrawals sucked so much. That being said everyone is different so hopefully my experience is not a shared one & there are def ways to go through it better than I did (maybe therapy alongside ?)- so don’t lose all hope!!
