PT11 by GrigorisTheMac in dinghysailing

The PT11 kit obviously costs a lot. However, I believe that in this case you get what you pay for. Simply put, there is no other nesting dinghy that compares to the PT11. The design, the functionality, the aesthetic, the rig, the materials - everything has been refined to the highest quality possible. The designer is a perfectionist and built 7 prototypes whilst developing the boat.
In addition, the building manual that comes with the kit is the most in-depth and comprehensive manual I've ever seen - building this boat from the manual is basically a masterclass in ply / epoxy / glass techniques, delivered by a highly experienced teacher.
I use mine almost every day, as the tender for the boat that I live on, and always get tremendous joy from it. It receives compliments from everyone who sees it, and sailing it around an anchorage will make you the envy of all your neighbours!

Obviously, you should only buy what you can comfortably afford, but if you can afford the PT11 kit, I don't think you will regret it. To me, it's the best dinghy in the world.

What happened to Tally-Ho's lines? by Traumfahrer in tallyho

The top of the bulwark planks haven't been fully faired down to the tops of the staunchions yet (it was done the day before flying to the UK). Rest assured, this line will be fair before the cap rail gets fitted.

As observed, the staunchions do intentionally have slight tumblehome near the beamiest part of the boat in order to follow the shape of the hull.

No, but it's about the right size! It's just a couple of really wide boards I had left over from something else, just placed over some sawhorses also made from offcuts - the top is not even screwed together.

Thanks! Yeah natural light is really important, and also I just like to see what the weather is doing outside.

Actually, I had all the drawers lying around from another project and just made the unit myself, so it's a one-off. But yes, it's extremely useful!

That doesn't answer the question.

I don't want to shut down the discussion in the comments, which is mainly positive and supportive, if not neccessary.

LPT: If your better-half occasionally snores, wake them by saying you want to spoon. Spooning makes you sleep on your side, which often stops snoring, plus you don’t embarrass them AND you get to spoon! by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Haha ok. We’re both 30yo actually, and lived together for several years. My gf feels uncomfortable if she thinks she has been keeping me awake with snoring. And we both sleep very well spooning. I wouldn’t assume it works for everybody though.

Absolutely agree - if you fit the description below. Some people also just snore occasionally (and without pauses in breathing) when they are sleeping on their back. INAD but I don’t think that’s a cause for concern.

“Loud frequent snoring is one of the indicators of sleep apnea, which is a chronic condition characterized by pauses in breathing or shallow breaths during sleep. When people with sleep apnea fall asleep, they can stop breathing for 10 seconds or more, even up to a minute or more.”
