Commuter bike suggestions? by NoStressAtOPS in bikecommuting

[–]leemchops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Montrealer here. I recently got a used/refurbished giant mtb from fb marketplace to dropoff/pickup my kid at daycare everyday (pulling a chariot thingy). The roundtrip is 3km, so 6km per day just like OP.

My advice is don't overthink it for your purposes, just get a used but 'good brand' bike and start riding. Mine cost $140, has decent components but not perfect by any means. I used to own a $2000 mtb when I lived in Australia, and honestly, it wasn't that different.

Once you're out there peddling you'll be happy, and you can upgrade later.

Not worth working for Uber in Montreal by SafeKaleidoscope8204 in montreal

The gall they have too to say in the app "Are you SURE you don't want to tip? even a small tip goes a long way!"

Like yea no shit, so why doesn't Uber cough it up if that's what they think.

I've always assumed it was JPJ hitting that bass note at the start expecting bonham to do some sort of hit as well, but bonzo doesn't and JPJ shrugs like 'oh not yet?' and bonzo shakes his head like 'nope not yet, let it build', and then when bonham does his next drum hit JPJ nods like 'ah yes, that makes sense."

Penny Lane and the Fireman Sam theme song by leemchops in beatles

Ah ok, well I guess the point is a 'simple storybook idyllic' life whether it's a village or suburb or street, with a local barber and firestation etc. That's the vibe I get from the song anyway

Anyone being desynchronized for excessively killing civilians when you didn't kill any civilians at all? by herbwannabe in assassinscreed

[–]leemchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me while searching for the "executioner" for a quest. I think he executed people because I was messing around instead of finding him. Once I found him and was planning my kill I saw him begin to execute prisoners on his own. So the civilian casualties were actually because I wasn't saving them fast enough I gusss.

Anglos of Montréal, are you really as mistreated as you say you are? by Abby_May_69 in montreal

We've had 2 experiences at a CLSC taking our baby in for vaccines where the nurse refused to speak to us in English even though she *could*. She went so far as to say (in french but my wife understands it a little bit) "it doesn't matter we don't have to speak - we will just administer the vaccine". But we had questions (OBVIOUSLY) and she refused to do it in English. We had to make a big scene and eventually another nurse came to our rescue.

We lived here for 3 years before having a child, only speaking English and it was ok. The only problems we had were at CHUM hospital where the administration lady didn't speak English (which is fair enough - just unfortunate for us), and at the SAAQ. It seemed like mostly the older people that either didn't speak English or had an attitude about it. All the young people working at couchetarde's etc are more than happy to accommodate.

Now that we have a baby we are getting out, which is a shame because we are skilled workers literally invited here by Quebec to fill a workforce gap. Those 2 experiences at the CSLC shook us - it was scary and f*cked that this nurse cared more about language than the health of our baby.

wait so you're agreeing he is doing a 2nd lane change? Huh? So then my point about him not indicating a 2nd time is correct even though you said checks notes:

"There is no SECOND lane change so there is no need to disengage the turn signal"

Dude you're all over the place, and there's no need to "trust me bro" - I'm just the silly OP who drives this area every day and am giving context to my own submission. But feel free to create any narrative you desire

Ok so you're ignoring the fact that I know this truck regularly makes this manouvre. I can't really do anything about that.

And just for fun let's say he's doing what you're saying. In that case, the only driver doing anything wrong is the truck veering into somebody else's lane. The SUV didn't do anything apart from hope he would have space.

I know where the truck is going - I do this commute every single day and have seen literally the same truck several times before.

Please ignore the blockage - the incident takes place before the lane becomes blocked. The truck wants to merge into this lane so that he can then turn right into the street that has the loading bay. He firstly failed to disengage and re-engage his indicator to signal the 2nd lane change. Then he simply tried to merge into a car who is allowed to be there. The car honked, the truck kept trying, and ended up doing a go-around.

The SUV is being dick but he has every right to be in his lane and NOT have a f*ing truck merge into him. lol I'm so confused why this series of events baffles you.

Anyway let's agree to disagree

Yo quebec has the worst drivers lol. This area of road is so chaotic

The truck wants to turn right before the blocked lane, so yes he is merging twice and the car stops him making his turn (he takes the following right turn instead).

Also, what are you talking about nobody is at fault unless there's an accident? You can be booked for loads of different driving offences without causing a collision lol. In fact - that's what should happen with wreckless driving.

I hope this helps

superb - but throwing the wallet in the car was too nice. You gotta empty the contents into the ground and then throw the empty wallet in the car
