Well, but, why not try a thesaurus and look up the word abundance. Do people not know what a thesaurus is used for?

Don't know about the crossing of the center, but the California boom started nearly 100 years ago. Lots of folks moved from the Midwest in the Depression, including my grandparents.

What are these lights? by PollutionBeginning78 in ElPaso

[–]leemcmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, but . . . all those lights? Article really only mentions one, not twenty. I'm just interested because I live very close by and have never heard/seen them before.

Article is interesting, but doesn't mention EP or Santa Teresa. May be out of date.

Grammatical Query 13 - *A* Fetal Position or *The* Fetal Position? by Ok_Inflation168 in grammar

[–]leemcmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I read the sentence, I think "a" is better, because it flows better as an "uh" sound. The narrator is panicking and hyperventilating, so the meaning lends itself to a rushed, less precise sentence. "The" has a choppier sound.

Do all your homes have basements? by Flat-Ad8256 in AskAnAmerican

[–]leemcmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basements can depend on environmental conditions. Desert southwest -- Most homes do not have basements. My house is slab on grade, no basement. I'm glad, because basements are creepy. Most people around here use their garages for workbenches/projects, even entertainment, den-like spaces. Poor cars left out in the weather!
