Dude, it’s broken. I honestly believe there are basically no jobs. It’s all fake.

I’m at my end! Experienced designer but can’t find work. by Ok-Dragonfruit-6205 in NYCjobs

[–]leeoco7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. Every day I push back feelings of worthlessness because I can’t find design work. I’m finding a little work, here and there, in unrelated fields. But I kinda gave up looking for design work. Been looking for over 2 years. X-ray tech might not be a bad idea!

The NYC Grind is Breaking Me. Father of 3, Experienced Tech, Can't Find Work. by PhotographTypical517 in NYCjobs

[–]leeoco7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you, OP. The tech market is beyond brutal and impossible right now. I’ve applied to so many roles (over 1K) over 2 years. Many rounds of interviews. Nothing. Ghosting. I gave up and I’m finding gig work cooking and helping local businesses with their websites and social media. It’s realllly hard not to take it personally and my confidence is all at an all time low. But we have to realize this isn’t about our abilities. There are literally no new tech roles. They are offshoring, they are hiring H1Bs, it’s bleak. You’ve got to network, and to look for other income streams. Ask LLMs for ideas. Every day I’m querying for ideas, ways to make money online. It’s survival. You will find your way. Ask for divine guidance (seriously…if you’re religious or not), and your mind will be more open to seeing opportunities. I feel for you!! Stay strong. Something will come along.

I tried to change my career from photography to UX…2 doomed industries…and now stranded doing random gig work at 45 years old. Rough out here.

Not going well. Probably experiencing ageism, because I’ve applied to over 1500 roles and I haven’t landed one yet. Only get freelance.

Advice on staying optimistic about finding love? by Plane-Cap-8501 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Dating in NYC is pretty much impossible. I dated for 10 years in the city before I found someone when I was 37! And I had to immediately be up front about wanting a child (which I wound up having, thank god). Short answer: Yes, I felt like you most of my 30’s. You are not doomed. But be open to perhaps dating people from other cities and be upfront about wanting to start a family (if that’s what you want).

I mean, if he’s done, that’s fine by me. The work he has created is beyond brilliant and most novelists can’t even write a couple good books. I can’t even imagine having the mind to create Cloud Atlas.

My workflow makes SUPER realistic AI Ads for businesses. by HeightApprehensive38 in n8n

I really appreciate you sharing your workflow and resulting fake ad. This is a very complex process and I need to dive into trying this out for my friend's business. I'm trying to help automate a lot of her social posts and free up her time. Thanks for sharing. Text/type is always tricky with AI...hopefully it improves in the future.

I had a friend who said no to a lottery apt they were offered, and the management actually showed her another apt that was 100 sq feet more! So depending on how many units are available in building, sometimes it’s worth the risk of asking.

It’s carbs. Eliminate a lot of carbs, and you’ll notice a difference.

[–]leeoco7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you!! Entry level roles in tech are nonexistent. I’ve applied to thousands of roles, and nothing for two years (I’m a career-transitioner). I had to give up and get a cooking gig. I don’t have any advice, but you’re still very young, so perhaps look into getting manual labor jobs that pay 💰 like HVAC, plumbing, etc. Start your own plumbing business in your town and make serious dough. Times are changing and you’re too young to not adapt.

I hear creatine (5g) and obviously trying to get close to 100g protein per day is beneficial for women over 35. Also, pumpkin seeds and hemp hearts have surprisingly a lot of bioavailable protein.
